The Christmas Express

We didn’t have any cream cheese, and we didn’t have enough eggs, so while I showered, Daddy & Emmie ran to get us Donut Kingdom.

Then we got dressed for church, and took her 17-month photos.

This happy little fashionista is 17 months old today! She is still the tiniest girl, at just over 17lbs, but she’s finally starting to wear a few 9month size outfits, and is in size 3 diapers. She is learning & saying lots of words, and the amount of things she understands blows me away sometimes. She’s also going through an extremely silly phase, and we find ourselves cracking up laughing at her all the time! She’s just the best little girl in the world.

Then we went my sister and her husband’s church today, Generations Church, to watch the children’s play that my sister directed. She has done this every year for the past four or five years, and it’s always extremely well done and super cute. This year, the play was called The Christmas Express, and it was so good! I tear up a little every single year, and this year was no exception. They also had this cute photo spot set up in the lobby.

Our whole family went to lunch at Dreamland afterwards, but when Emerson couldn’t make it any more, we packed up ours in to-go boxes and headed home for her nap time.

Jeff and I got to rest for about an hour and a half at home, so we watched “The Christmas Switch” on Netflix, and it was really cheesy, but really good. Then my mom came to our house so we could go to church, since Emerson was still asleep. We did our final performance of the Singing Christmas Tree tonight, and it went really well. It’s a lot of work, and we love it, but we’re always glad for a break when it’s done.

My friend Ashlee, who plays the clarinet in our church orchestra.

After Emerson woke up from her nap at home, my mom loaded her up and took her back to her house to play with Pepaw. They hung out there for a while, and Emerson kept trying to climb into her old bassinet. The legs are folded up underneath it currently so it’s low to the ground, and being stored temporarily at my parents house for my sister when the triplets get here. Emerson just wanted to play in it today though!

Then they took her to walk around and see all the Christmas lights at Dorothy B. Oven Park. They were still there by the time we finished singing at church, so we met them there for the last 10 or so minutes of their adventure. Emerson was bundled up in a coat, and just walking around exploring everywhere, loving all the sparkly lights.

After goodbye hugs, we loaded up and ran to Walmart for our grocery pickup order. (Let me know if you want a coupon code for $10 off your first order!) Then we sat forever in the Sonic drive-thru waiting on dinner, only to get home and half of the food was burnt, or overcooked, and with some things just missing. So that was annoying.

Emerson was extremely tired after such a long and busy day, and weekend, so she was more than ready for bed at her usual time. Jeff and I also need rest after such a busy weekend, so we’re going to take it easy the rest of the night.
