Dinner on the Grounds

I got up a little earlier than usual for a Sunday, so I could get my “stick of butter rice” baking in the oven. I followed this recipe I found on Pinterest (although I doubled it) and it turned out perfect and delicious!

And then after Sunday school & our regular church service, we had our annual church-wide Thanksgiving lunch on the grounds!

For comparison, here are 2 photos from last years Thanksgiving church lunch. Emmie was almost 4 months old, and swimming in her 0-3month clothes, and slept through most of the luncheon…

We came straight home afterwards, and miraculously I was able to keep Emmie awake on the drive home. (Otherwise, if she sleeps for the 25-minute drive home, she thinks she’s good for the day… and she is so not good with a short nap.) She slept for about 1.5 hours, and I tried to nap myself, but was mostly unsuccessful. When she woke up, Daddy took her on a walk around the neighborhood, and let me try to rest a little more.

Then we went out to pick up milk, and ended up going over to visit Jeff’s parents. We then ended up staying and having dinner with them as well. Since she had some leftover spaghetti, we stripped Emmie down to her diaper, and let her really just go to town! Then we took her straight to the bath tub, before heading out.

So we finally stopped for milk at Walgreens on the way home, and found a little stash of Harry Potter items. Emmie picked up this soft little plushie doll, and instantly loved it. I checked the tag, and it just said “99,” but I figured it must be missing a number or something… So when we went to check out (and she still wouldn’t let go of it), we asked the checkout guy to just scan it, and lo & behold it really was marked down to only 99 cents! So of course we bought it!

Now we have 3 different Harry figures… And yes, we’re both 30-something grown adult parents, haha.

Emmie went down for bed really well tonight, because she was exhausted from all her craziness! After the luncheon at church, she went running back & forth down the sidewalk for about 20 minutes non-stop. Then after her bath, she flip-flopped and wiggled like crazy all over the couch for about 20 minutes. She was so full of energy today, and she wore me out trying to keep up with her! Already looking forward to more fun tomorrow!

And for another quick trip down memory lane, look at this photos from 11/11/17, when we took a quick weekend getaway to Destin with my parents. Emerson was just so little! And we took her to the beach for the first time, even though it was a bit chilly & windy and it only lasted about 10 minutes.

Now we’re going to watch “A Wrinkle in Time” on Netflix, which is good timing, since I just finished re-reading the book last week, for the second time.
