Tiny Top Knot

I felt fancy and made homemade apple cinnamon oatmeal for breakfast. I loved it and thought it was delicious, but Emerson didn’t so much. So she just ate a plain peeled and sliced apple, in “her casserole” from Nana’s house. 😊

She also wanted me to have pink milk like her, which was actually really yummy!

We played at home for a while (Jeff was on camera duty at church), then got dressed to make a quick trip to Publix, to pick up a few things Walmart didn’t have.

She actually let me do her hair (which is rare), and I loved this tiny little messy top knot!

We did more playing at home, she “made me coffee,” and we played in her room, and I watched church online on my phone (until she hurt herself on the coffee table and had a meltdown).

After she drew on this for a minute, she announced, “I made an E!” I looked down not expecting much, but she kinda did write an E, even if there’s a few too many lines 😁

Next, she helped me get stuff prepped and put in the crockpot for dinner. And do you see the size of that giant carrot? The recipe called for two large carrots, but that bad boy was more like 3-in-1, so I just used that one. It was huge!

She had some cheese noodles for lunch, and then once Daddy got home from church, we did the naptime routine together, and she went down for a nap. I also took a nap on the couch, and Jeff took a nap in our bed. We were all super sleepy, apparently!

After she slept for about two hours, she was ready to play some more. She served us “cookies” (dinosaur info cards) from her little tea tray, and then sat on her stool sideways, pretending she was on a “speedy rosta colla.” (Aka roller coaster.) It was so funny!

We went to Home Depot for a few things we needed (potting soil, river pebbles, and a new light for the kitchen), and Emerson drove us all through the store.

She also loves to drive by these big tractors and trailers at the end of every trip, so she sits in my lap as we check them all out, before getting buckled into her seat.

I had told Jeff that I wanted to go get some of those fried oreos everyone’s talking about lately, and he was like, “Well let’s go get some now!” But they are closed on Sunday’s, so Jeff decided we should get donuts instead, since now were all wanting some “pessert,” as Emmie says.

Then we went for a walk when we got home! Emmie only made it like two minutes before her shoes hurt and she didn’t want to walk, so Jeff went back to the house for her stroller. But we walked for about 20 minutes while waiting on our soup to finish up, and it was really nice.

Back at home, I sliced and buttered and toasted some Italian bread, to go with our creamy sausage & tortellini crockpot soup, and dinner was ready! I’d made this only once before, but remembered it was really good. It’s supposed to also get a few big handfuls of spinach, but when I opened the bag it smelled funny, and the bottom of the bag looked kinda slimy, so we skipped that and just threw away the whole bag 😏 But it was still super yummy! And we have tons of leftovers.

Emmie ate the sausage & tortellini really well, and then had her donut for dessert, and polished off the whole thing.

Jeff did Emmie’s bath time, while I washed a ton of dishes and got the kitchen all cleaned up. She came into the kitchen wrapped in her dino towel, roaring and chomping and biting, saying she was the baby dino looking for her mommy dino.

We did a little video call with Jeff’s brother Brad and cousin Andie, and Emmie was very busy just showing them all sorts of things in her room and all her stuff.

I helped her get her babies all tucked in and ready for bed, and then we read stories and sang lullabies, and got her ready for bed too.

After getting Emmie down for bed, I ended up talking on the phone to my friend Abby for almost an hour, and then Jeff and I got into a long, deep conversation for about an hour, and I just never got around to writing this post! So I’m actually writing this early Monday morning, while the coffee brews and Emmie plays with her shopping cart. She has a dentist appointment a little later this morning, so we have a slow morning before it’s time for that…
