Primrose & Pretzel

I just can’t ever get enough of my adorable baby girl. And I just think she looked especially precious this morning, in her cute dress and little white sandals. Such a beauty!

Although all of Leon County won’t be starting school next week, Growing Room is still treating next Monday like the “first day of school” for the new year. So all the kids will transition up to their new classes on Monday. And guess what? The triplets will be starting school at GR on Monday too! And their teacher will be Emmie’s old favorite, Ms. Q, and we’re so excited for that! Anyways, to help the kids with the full-time transition next week, they did a bit of play time in the new class today, so this is Emerson’s teacher for next year, Ms. Nicole!

I rarely remember to stop and take an actual break in the afternoons (or the mornings for that matter), unless it’s to chop veggies or do something to prep for dinner. But today ,I needed the time away from the computer and the hoopla. So I grabbed a snack (I wante cheese & crackers, but we had no crackers, so pretzels were a good second choice) and my Kindle and set my 15-minute timer, and it was a nice break. And I had my furry Pretzel right there keeping me company.

Three years ago, my girl was just the teeniest little 7-pound almost-one-month-old,, doing her signature pose at the time, with her little fists squeezed tightly, with one arm up in the air. Our sweet old doggie Primrose was always nearby, watching over her and just out of frame for these photos.

Except sometimes she liked to get up close & personal to check things out!

After a busy day, I was ready to pick up my baby girl. Tonight was supposed to be Crock-Pot Swedish meatballs, per my meal plan. But I knew I wasn’t feeling that. Plus, we’ve had an abundance of leftovers lately, and we can barely eat it all before throwing it out. We still have last night’s leftovers, and I know there will be more leftovers from tomorrow’s meal. And the meatball recipe creates a giant batch, and I just didn’t want to make such a huge meal. So anyways, after sharing all of that unnecessary information, I decided to make the waffles and sausage that we were supposed to have Sunday that got booted for Carrabba’s take out instead. And the waffles were delish of course!

I told him I said it was really yummy to take a bite of waffle and sausage at the same time, and she got to work very diligently making that happen for every single bite!

She put on this hat, and try to pick up Daddy’s backpack, and said she was going to work on some cars. 😆

She didn’t pee on the potty, of course, but she was good in the bathtub and we got her all squeaky clean and syrup-free. She was super excited to pick out a new pair of clean jammies. These are some more of the recent hand-me-downs, and she was thrilled. She sat down in her little spot with all her animals, stretched her legs straight out in front of her, and said so quietly and sweetly, “I like all these hammy-downs.” Proudly teaching my girl to be grateful for what we have!

After books and prayers, we did our little evening chat together. I asked her what she wanted to tell me about, and she launched into all sorts of things. She told me all about how Madeline took her shoes off in class, because she had some of the rubber mulch in there, but it was stuck and she couldn’t get it out. I asked Emmie if she tried to help her, but she just shrugged her tiny shoulders and was just all nonchalant like, “nah.”

After getting her down for a bed, I read my book for a little while, and now I’m watching Netflix and blogging while Jeff does some computer work in the front room. Time to just relax and take it easy the rest of the night!
