New Purfume

Little Bit always needs a small snack or just a few bites of something before leaving home in the morning, even though she gets a full hot breakfast every day at school. Today, she was glad there was a donut or two left for her to have a few bites of!

When we put this new dress on her this morning she said, “Dis a beach dress? I’nna go to da beach!” And I told her I thought that sounded like a great plan! It’s a little big on her (it’s an 18-24 month size, and she’ll be three next month!), but still super adorable!

My cute, furry little coworker got excited when we started talking about going on a lunchc-time walk, but we ultimately decided to leave him at home, because we weren’t sure if his tiny dachshund legs could make it two miles, and we didn’t want the pavement to be too hot for his widdle paws. (Also two things: 1. I’m not technically wearing jeans to WFH {I know there are meme’s about those people} because these are jeggings so that doesn’t count, and 2. I changed into yoga pants before walking in the 90-degree-but-feels-like-98-degree weather.)

Because YES, we did go out on a walk in the middle of the day, and we made it 2.3 miles today!

My little Emmie-girl had a good day at school, and brought home the Olympic-ring themed wind sock from craft time today!

So a couple of weeks ago, when I was in the office for my weekly 4 hours when I actually go into the building instead of teleworking, my boss walked by me and she smelled soooo good! The scent reminded me of the hotel Jeff and I stayed at on our honeymoon in Cancun, which was a scent I absolutely loved. (I actually have a big thing for scents and smells, and some of them are like markers in time for certain memories. I just love perfumes, lotions and scented candles.) Anyways, I stopped her and asked what it was, so she took me back to her office, and showed me, and then sprayed it on me. I looked it up later that day on Victoria Secret’s site, and lo & behold it was on sale, so I got the spray & matching lotion for $30 total, instead of $25 for each! It finally got delivered today, and I just wanted to douse myself in it! (I practically did.)

Since the kitchen project is still very much a work in progress, I just got a bunch of frozen things like lasagna & chicken nuggets, that I can jus throw in the oven each night with minimal prep or dirty dishes. So that should be easy. This girl was just being a total goof ball at dinner. I don’t even remember what this was about!

We did a little coloring after dinner, and then took her to the bathroom to attempt to potty on the toilet. That was a fail, but Nana called us from Nashville where she’s “babysitting” some of her grandkids, and Emmie loved talking to the youngest one, who is only four years old, and showing her all the things in her room and around our house.

She made me take and send them this silly picture, but I have no idea what she was doing 😆

Ok and kitchen update – at this point, we have tried two kinds of Kilz primer, which is supposedly stain-&-odor blocking, but even though it goes on white, within just a couple of minutes, it turns this ugly creamy yellow-y color. We’re positive that it would show through the top coat of regular white paint, so we didn’t end up getting the first coat of real paint done last night, because we want to make sure we get that taken care of first.

We did a little bit of research, and we think it’s because we are using water-based primer. So tomorrow just going to go back to Walmart or Home Depot again, to get a small can of oil-based Kilz, and hopefully that will finally do the trick. It’s not doing it on everything, only on the stuff that wasn’t sanded at all, like the trim up at the top, and a few spots where we did sand and do wood filler, and that’s coming through too. So we’re kind of at a standstill right now, and are actually just taking the night off and not doing any work tonight.

Eating popcorn for her bedtime snack while I read a book…

Crazy hair after taking down her cute little messy bun! But she was sweet and mostly good at bedtime, and it wasn’t too difficult to get her ready for sleepy-time.

As much as I really wanted us to push through and get the kitchen project done really quickly, and we did work hard for three basically full days, it’s also nice to be forced to take a little break tonight, and rest until we get a new kind of primer to try tomorrow night. So for tonight, we’re both just taking it easy, kind of doing our own thing. Jeff is playing some video games on his phone, and I’m probably going to watch an episode of “This Is Us,” before we both head to bed early.
