Neptune the Ice Giant

(Blog post for Friday, 2/10/23.)

After nearly a week of working on her report, and painting her planet, today was finally the day to bring it to school and turn it in! She was so very proud of herself, and I was so very proud of her!

About mid-morning, I messaged my friend Heather and said “How can I be craving this place when I’ve never even been there or had this?” And sent her the menu for Paris Bahn Mi. Both of us brought our lunch from home, but we decided to forego that, and treat ourselves on payday, and it was definitely the right decision. It was sooo delicious. It was also very nice and pretty inside.

I got the grilled pork bahn mi and absolutely loved it. I thought those white things were onions, but it was pickled daikon radish, which I’d never had before, but it was really good. I made sure to pick up every piece of veggies that fell off, because I didn’t want to lose even one piece! I also tried boba tea for the first time too, and I also loved that. This was the taro milk tea boba, and I really liked it. My go-to frozen yogurt flavor is always taro, so I knew I’d like that flavor profile. And it was so pretty!

Heather got a pork “burger” and some egg rolls that she shared with me, and she had a caramel frappe, and she loved her whole meal too. We’ll definitely be going back here, because I want to try a few more of the sandwiches, and lots more of the drinks. We didn’t get any of their incredible-looking desserts yesterday either, so we gotta try those too.

After work and school, and picking up the girls, Jeff played with them (well, watched them while they played in their princess castle) while I worked to get dinner finished up.

While dinner was cooking, I opened up some mail, and found my sweet Grandmommie had hand-written a recipe she saw online and thought I’d like to try. Love her cute stationary, and the recipe sounds yummy!

Before work, I had gotten the crockpot set and ready for some beef stroganoff. So when I got home, I boiled some egg noodles, microwaved a bag of steam-in-bag broccoli, and then we had a delicious dinner all ready to go. Both girls really loved it too, and Jeff raved over it. I’ve made it lots of times over the past few years, but it was just a big hit this time!

Emmie had a quick soak in the tub by herself while Addie played. Then we got them both ready for bed.

When I came back out to the living room after putting Emerson down, Jeff and Addison were just pretending to lay there quietly, trying to play a joke on me. But then we switched and I held her, and she finally calmed down with me, and we both fell asleep in the recliner together.

And then I was just so exhausted, I actually did go to bed early for once. I rarely actually do that, even when I say I’m going to, but I just couldn’t stay awake any longer. So that’s why I didn’t blog last night, because I was asleep by 9:30. And that was a good thing, since I had to set 6am alarms for a Saturday morning, which I’ll write more about in tonight’s post!
