Superior Singer

Earlyyyy this morning, we got up and got Emerson dressed, and dropped her off at the church at 7am. Then her and a bunch of others from GC Kids went on a road trip down to Panama City for an event called Winter Blitz.

Later in the morning, Jeff, Addie and I got dressed and ready and headed down there too. We saw the end of their opening service. And then the real reason we went down there, was to watch Emerson perform a vocal solo in their “Fun Arts” competition. She chose “Honey In The Rock,” and she’s been practicing every Wednesday night with Aunt Meggie, getting ready for today. And she did so great! She was adorable and so sweet, and I was so incredibly proud of her!

We didn’t stay there long, and it was chaos when we were there, but I’m glad we made the drive down to see her first competition/performance. They were starting lunch when we left, so we headed off to a cute little local place called Po’Folks, that was delicious Southern food. It was super yummy and priced great, and it was warm and comforting on this chilly, rainy day.

Addie has started folding her little hands every time we pray now, and it’s very sweet. She usually peeks though, but she always says amen at the end.

Jeff drove us back in the rain, and Addison and I both fell asleep in the car while he drove. When we got back home, I worked hard cleaning up everything possible in the dining room, getting started on my deep-clean to prep for next weekend’s annual tea party! Nan came over later to help out with Addison while I cleaned, and Jeff had to go pick up some computer stuff for someone.

Meanwhile, I got these pictures from Aunt Meggie, saying that Emerson had won “superior” for her solo! And Aunt Meggie was the one that got to give her the medal! Again, I’m just so proud of my girl. But she’s definitely growing up wayyy too fast!

They got back home from their trip a little after 6:30, so I went to the church to pick up Emerson, and we picked up Chick-fil-A for dinner before heading back home.

I don’t know how they started doing this, but the girls were laying in the floor, and Jeff was hopping over them being silly making all these weird noises and stuff, and they thought it was the most hilarious thing ever and they did this for like 10 minutes with so much giggling and squealing.

Then they started doing this weird bear-crawl-walk thing, and still giggling like crazy.

And finally it was time to get them started on bedtime, just a little bit later than usual. We did Emmie’s book and lullaby and prayers in my bed, then went over to her bed for the final “Jesus Loves Me,” and then she was out like a light.

Addison did good at bedtime as well, and she wasn’t hard to get down to sleep. Ready to go sit down and rest for a little bit now, after a long, busy day.
