Carnations & Crafts

Emerson woke up asking for donuts today, she mentioned it to Daddy one time, and he was off like a rocket to go pick some up! So I got the girls dressed while he was gone, then we took turns getting ourselves ready and eating with the girls.

Today was “Game Day” at GC Kids, and they were encouraged to wear their team gear, so Emerson put together her own outfit and looked adorable. Addison also chose to wear her rain boots again today, and looked adorable as well.

We went to one of our fave places today, El Rincon Latino, for Columbian food after church, and it was great as always.

I got the girls down for their naps after church, and Jeff went out to work at one of his side job. I tried to rest a little bit myself, but I couldn’t sleep very well, so I just got up and washed a ton of dishes instead.

This morning, they gave us this cute little certificate for Emerson’s participation yesterday in Fun Arts, and they also gave us the evaluators’ score sheets, and they’re so cute with the little emoji’s for the reviews. They also wrote really sweet little notes about her performance, and I just love it all. Also, the GC youth group sold carnations as a missions fundraiser, and Jeff secretly ordered some last week after church to be delivered to Emerson and I at church today, and that was a sweet little surprise for both of us.

After the girls both finally woke up from their very long 2 1/2 – 3 hour naps, we went over to Nana & PopPop’s house. We took a craft project over with us, because Emerson was supposed to make a little box for her Valentine’s to be “delivered” in at school. I saved this puzzle box from her custom birthday puzzle, and we used that to decorate, and had Jeff cut a slot in the top to slip the little cards and stuff in. (And yes, she justĀ had to wear her medal from yesterday over to their house tonight.)

Nana had a giant crockpot of chili, plus bbq lil smokies, and a whole table of charcuterie type foods. She made enough for a party of about 20 people, for just 4 adults and 2 small kids, but that meant we got to bring a whole load of leftovers home with us, which is really convenient, since I didn’t do a Walmart pickup order, or have time to run to Aldi for anything, so she supplied all sorts of things for us.

We stayed over there way too late playing and hanging out, and by the time we finally got home, we immediately started on bedtime for the girls. And since it was late, Addie was out really quickly and easily, but Emmie wasn’t ready to be left by herself. So even after I did her routine, and Jeff gave her goodnight loves, she still ended up out in the living room, snuggled up in my favorite blanket on the couch. So now we gotta try to get her to bed for real, and then my fingernails desperately need some attention and a refresh.
