Family Potato Bar

First photos of the day didn’t come until after church, when we all gathered at my parents’ house, for a big family lunch. Even Megan, Bo & the triplets made the journey out to the NE side of town, because today we had some special guests! My mom’s cousin Cheryl, and her husband David, were visiting in town. They were missionaries for many years in Senegal, Africa, and currently live in Kansas City, Kansas, and we haven’t seen them in a few years. So we had a great afternoon full of family time!

Aunt Suzanne, Riley & Emerson.

Kensley & Uncle Jeff.

Ellie and Uncle Keith. (This girl is getting so much hair!)

Emerson was sooo excited to see Aunt Meggie, she went running up to her and latched on to her legs, and also showed her the new boots Grammy got her!

(She was also wearing another new pair Grammy had gotten her, because she was adamant about wearing them to church this morning, even though they really didn’t match her little dress.)

We put together a giant baked potato & salad bar, with lots of toppings for both. Plus pot roast. It was delicious!

And that’s Aunt Cheryl & Uncle David back there. I meant to take a nice picture with them, but then I totally forgot before we left later!

Grandmommie got Emerson to lay down for nap time, and she slept for almost 1.5 hours. Then she wanted lots of sweet snuggles from Grammy once she woke up.

She said she wanted to swim, so her and Papa both got their suits on, but then she would only get in about waist deep, and in 90 seconds total she was ready to get back out!

We hung out an played for a little while longer, before we had to head out. We came on home, and did a quick tidy-up around the house, before Nana & PopPop came over for dinner. I hadn’t done any grocery shopping this weekend, so they stopped at Publix to grab fried chicken & some sides, and brought it over to our house for dinner. Emerson then entertained us with some piano playing and dancing for a while.

Nita also brought me a giant stack of brand new dish towels she got on a great deal at Sam’s, after I mentioned to her last week I needed new ones. Such a small thing, but so appreciated!

Emerson had a quick snack…

And then Nana & I took her outside to play for a while. She was having the most fun running up and down the hill over and over and over again…

And then eventually we got her to just sit down and rest for a bit. She’s obsessed with crunching ice, so we got her cup filled with crushed ice and she just sat in her little chair, crunching so content, for like 10-15 minutes. She is so silly and cute! It was also really nice to just sit and enjoy the cooler weather this evening, especially with a nice breeze!

Nana then got her in her jammies and ready for bed, and then read her night time books.

After that, I took over, but it took quite a while before she was ready to lay down, we did about 10 songs (instead of our normal 3), and she just needed more hugs and loves. She did finally settle down enough to for me to lay her in her crib, so hopefully she’ll now have a really good night’s sleep.

Since I didn’t cook, and we ate off paper plates, there’s not a huge pile of dishes, so I’ll just leave them there until tomorrow. For now, I’m gonna just settle down to rest, because it’s been a long day, and I’m exhausted from staying out until 10:30pm last night! 😉
