Bear Lullabies

Today’s drop-off went better than yesterday, with this silly little goofball girl.

And she had a good day at school, complete with a two-hour nap, and she went pee in the potty one time!

Grammy and Grandmommie are on triplet duty with Megan for a few days while Bo is out of town, so unfortunately that meant Grammy couldn’t pick up Emerson from school. Luckily, Uncle Keith and Aunt Suzanne were still available for our weekly pre-church dinner, and she was excited to see them. And even more excited when Uncle Keith took her into the play place!

Dinner was followed by choir, and then Jeff took Emmie home early while I stayed late for praise team rehearsal, with my friend Trenton & my Uncle Keith. And I got to chat with my friend Ashlee (who plays in the orchestra) for a while after rehearsal, which was really nice too.

I had actually stopped at DD between CFA & church for a hot mint tea, to help my singing voice since I’ve been so scratchy lately. It was sooo hot though, so I couldn’t drink it for like, 1.5 hours, but I finally enjoyed it while doing mic check and getting rehearsal notes & such.

Emerson didn’t want to settle down and get ready for bedtime without me, so I found her wide awake on the couch when I got home. She was, at least, in her jammies already though, so that’s better than nothing. We read just one, short book, “Mary had a little lamb,” which she always very sweetly sings along with me. Her tiny little singing voice just absolutely kills me, it’s so precious.

She was on the verge of a meltdown after prayers, because she couldn’t decide if she wanted Mommy or Daddy, and if she wanted regular lullabies or the Rockabye Baby lullaby versions of rock songs (i.e. Queen & The Beetles). We finally settled on Mommy & “bears,” which are the Rockabye Baby songs. (She just calls them “bears,” because all of the albums have different kinds of bears on the cover artwork.) Anyways, once the decision was made she was super sweet and cuddly, and she was fine and ready to lay down after just a couple of songs.

It’s now time for another mug of hot tea (Jeff passed on tea tonight), and some Netflix & rest on the couch before bedtime.

Good night, friends!
