Bagels, Books & a Bluey Birthday

Today started out storming and dreary, thundering and lightning when we woke up at the “late hour” of 7am. But  I made us some sausage, egg & cheese bagels for breakfast, and then we had some chill time until we were ready to get moving for the day.

Then after Emmie and I both took a shower, we got all four of us dressed, and we took a quick visit to the library for some new picture books and beginner reading books.

Checking to see if it’s raining…

Since she got her first library card a few weeks ago, they also gave her this free tote bag today. It’s plain, but she was very excited about it.

We decided to get some Chick-fil-A for lunch (because literally zero part of me wanted to eat anything at our house), and it was delicious and exactly what we all wanted.

And then it was so gray and rainy and dark, and we all passed out in the living room for a little less than an hour or so.

Then it was time for us to head out to a sweet little 4-year-old’s Bluey themed birthday party! They played Bingo, and had cupcakes and lots of play time, and the girls had a great time playing together for the first time in a while, after a busy summer.

We did a little shopping at Home Goods after the party, and found a few good things – new bath towels, a couple small gifts for Grammy’s upcoming birthday, a few bags of coffee, and a new coffee mug for myself that I saw and just couldn’t bear to not have it.

We had dinner right next door at Thai Kitchen cuisine, for our third time. We tried their potstickers for the first time tonight, and that red curry sauce they come with was really good.

I got the chicken noodle bowl that Jeff always orders, and dad-gummit it was so incredibly delicious. It was just the perfect amount of spicy, but so creamy and so good, and it was so filling, and I couldn’t finish the last little bit of it.

Since Emerson had showered this morning, only Addison needed a bath tonight (and she really needed it, because she had been wiping her greasy little fried rice hands all over her face), and then we got both girls in their jammies. I put Addie in some new jammies, and tried combing her hair sideways, but she looked like Rolfe from “The Sound of Music” (a little Aryan baby boy), so I kept laughing at her little hair and calling her Rolfe the rest of the night. Emerson still wanted to wear Grammy’s shirt she wore home last night, and she was so sweet in it.

These are the two coffees we got tonight, and the new mushroom coffee mug that I just had to have. I’ve been drawn to these cute little whimsical mushrooms lately, and honestly kinda thinking about starting to collect some mushroom stuff 🙂

Emerson was playing with an old remote, saying she needed to call Elly’s mom (my friend Britteny), so she could tell her some stuff to pass along to Elly.

Addison fell asleep super quickly when Jeff rocked her to sleep, but Emerson was a little more clingy and kept wanting me to come back and love her over and over. And I also had to promise to go back and love her one more time after “my computer stuff.” So once I finish this post, I’m heading back to her room to check on her one more time.

We’re also having some hot tea to end the evening, and of course I had to use my cute new mushroom mug.

It’s been such a great day, but I’m exhausted! In need of some rest tonight for sure, as always really…
