7th Anniversary

My little nugget girl didn’t have such a great drop-off this morning. She only wanted to stay home and be with Mommy, and she didn’t want to go to school. Poor thing was just the saddest little cute-o-sauraus (which is what her new dino shirt from Grammy says).

I brought my new giant llama mug to work and made a cup of coffee from the Keurig in the the office, and it was great, and so cute!

The triplets got to school about 15 minutes after I left Emmie this morning, so the teachers picked up Emmie from her room, and let her walk the girls to their classroom and get all the loves and hugs, and I think that helped cheer her up. Because after that, she seemed to have a good day! She even took a two-hour nap! And on her report today, one of her teachers sent this note that Emmie said, “Nana is picking me up today, when Mommy goes to the restaurant she’s going to. I love my Mommy.” Ugh, isn’t she just the sweetest!?

Today is mine and Jeff’s seventh wedding anniversary! Last year, I did a little walk-down-memory-lane post of past anniversaries, so check that out here if you’re interested. Today, we decided to treat ourselves to a lunch date at a new-to-us restaurant, for tacos at La Tiendita. And it was soooo good.

The restaurant was also part Mexican/Brazilian grocery store, and Jeff picked this for me for dessert. Even though there wasn’t any English on the package, he figured it was something with chocolate and hazelnut, and that would be good enough! And boy was he right! This thing was delicious!

As Emmie said this morning, Nana picked her up from school today, while Jeff and I went on our dinner date. She took her home for dinner and playtime at their house, before bringing her back to our house after our dinner.

Nana had made homemade chicken noodle soup yesterday, and planned to have that for dinner tonight, but Emmie didn’t want soup. She requested egg salad. So her and Nana made egg salad together! Nana said they used nine hard-boiled eggs, and Emerson ate about half of all they made! But she didn’t want it on a sandwich today, just on the plate with a spoon 🙂

We went to Kool Beanz tonight for our anniversary dinner celebration. This was only our 4th or 5th time, but it’s one of our favorite restaurants. We considered trying out a new place tonight – we had a few other places on our list to try that we’ve never been to before, but they were all closed on Monday’s! So we ended up back at KB again, and sadly, it was a little disappointing tonight. We’ve literally never had any issues there before, but everything tonight was just a little sub-par. Jeff’s swordfish was undercooked and raw in the middle (that’s not the way that fish should be cooked), and his rice was also undercooked and a little “al-dente.” Nothing was wrong with my meal, but it just wasn’t spectacular either. So, meh… you win some, you lose some…

We got some time to deep dive into some more serious topics of conversation (that I won’t bore you with the details of here), so that’s always good for the soul and the relationship, to really connect with your partner. We still enjoyed each other’s company, on a kid-free date night, but we also talked about Emerson a good bit, and how much we loved her and missed her.

Nana and Emerson had gotten back to our house just shortly before we did, and Nana was in the process of getting her changed for bedtime. She was of course so super excited to see us when we got home, and was just the cutest, chattiest girl, telling us all the things. She was also super excited to show us the new rain jacket Nana got her, after she decided she needed one to go with the boots. Then she told Nana that she needed rain pants, too! 😉

She was so precious in her little pig tails (she got to hang out with Miss Jessica for a little while today when her class went on the playground, and I know they both enjoyed that, plus she got to get her hair done), and was being the sweetest girl.

Of course she wasn’t tired and didn’t want to go to sleep, but she told me she loved me about 10 times during lullabies and gave me plenty of kisses, and then quietly laid down in her bed like a good girl. I think we’re going to find a fun little rom-com or something of the sort on Netflix to watch together, before calling it a night!
