Paint-By-Numbers

I was at church bright and early again this morning for praise team rehearsal, with my giant Tervis of hot coffee I brought from home, setting up my in-ear’s and mic.

Jeff did a good job getting the girls dressed on his own (in the clothes I laid out for them), and getting the three of them to church on time.

We had a great church service, with a special guest speaker, who was a missionary in Indonesia for 23 years. We went to a Mexican restaurant near our house after church, but it really wasn’t very good, and we probably won’t return. (We’d actually been there once before, about 6 years ago, and didn’t like it much then either, but just wanted to give them a second chance today. Still unimpressed.)

Addison took another nice long afternoon nap today, from about 1:30-4pm. Emerson laid in her bed for about an hour, but I’m not sure if she actually slept or not. I watched episode 8 of “From Scratch” while she napped, and absolutely sobbed like my own heart was breaking, not just the main girl in the show. It was heart-wrenching, but so good.

Then Emmie and I both played around with our new obsession we discovered this weekend, a paint-by-numbers app that we downloaded on both my phone and her Kindle. We pick the same pictures, and both work on them separately, and “help” each other some too. When you complete a photo, it saves to your camera roll. It’s like a digital puzzle and they look so cool, and we’re both very into it!

Once Addison woke up, we met our friends Britteny & Steven at the park so that Emmie & Elly could play together for a while. But then Emerson accidentally busted her gums when she slipped & fell, so we had a very abrupt exit trying to get her calmed down and cleaned up so we could assess the damage. (It was scary at first, seeing the blood on her front teeth, but it really was just a small little cut, and she’s fine now.)

Addison started her chicken nugget dinner in the living room, but she kept wanting to pick up her plate & carry it away. So Jeff took her to the dining table, and I made Emerson some instant mashed potatoes, so she could eat the softest thing possible for dinner, since her mouth was a little sore.

After dinner, Jeff and Addison cuddled up in the recliner together, and Emerson worked on another color-by-numbers painting. Meanwhile, I put on a 20-minute timer and washed up all the dishes, and tidied up the kitchen counter, which was just littered with groceries we didn’t put away yesterday, and to-go cups from the weekend, and other water cups and coffee mugs and anything else random.

Then Addie was just about ready to go to sleep, and Emmie wanted to eat two cups of applesauce in bed for her niht time snack.

We ended up having a really good 4-day weekend, and we’re only halfway ready to get back to our normal routine tomorrow. For now though, Jeff and I are going to watch some of our favorite YouTube travel vloggers, and I’m going to work on another paint-by-numbers pictures.
