This morning started off sweet, when Emerson gave Daddy a book for her father’s day gift. Then she had strawberries and peach Cheerios for her breakfast before church.

Today was full of lots of good things, even in the midst of still feeling sad from yesterday. My parents are back in town finally for one thing, and we spent some time with them after breakfast this morning at their house. Emerson was very excited to see Grammy & Pepaw, and very excited to play with all the new IKEA cups, bowls & plates, and tear up a few napkins.
Then while Emerson napped, I got the living room, kitchen, & dining room all clean today, and that always makes me feel better about life.

Well today turned out to be a pretty rough day. Some family of mine got some bad news, that left us all hurting. In addition to that, today would have also been my grandparents 60th anniversary, if my Granddaddy hadn’t passed away in 2016, so that is sad too. There were definitely still good parts about today though, and since this blog is a place to journal all the good times, I still want to highlight those good things from today.

The best part of my day is always time spent with my little family. And tonight was the best night the three of us have had, now that Jeff was finally feeling much better!
We had fun tonight eating dinner together, then giving Emerson a bath, and just playing and being silly. She was going back & forth between fussing (because she was absolutely exhausted) and giggling at Pretzel, and it was actually pretty funny.

I literally just finished my current Kindle book, “Their Eyes Were Watching God,” and my head is still kind of immersed in that. It was originally published in 1937, as one of the first “Afro-American feminist novels,” and chronicles the life of the main character Janie, and her journey from “object” to “subject.” It was really good. It was physically difficult to read though, because it’s written just like they would have talked back then, so the spelling is all weird and crazy sometimes, so you kind of have to just keep on reading and figure it out as you go. (For example, “Don’t need tuh ast me where Ah been all dis time, ‘cus it’s mah all day job tuh tell yuh.”) But it was still good.

OK first of all, I got ran out & grabbed Chipotle for lunch today. Yum! I don’t get to eat it very often, because Jeff doesn’t like it (he hates cilantro), but I LOVE their cilantro-lime rice and fajita veggies. I always get the chicken burrito bowl. I brought it back to my office to eat because 1.) I hate eating by myself in public, and 2.) I wanted to read in privacy like the true introvert that I am. (Yes, I’m an introvert, and I do I see the irony of writing a public blog…)

So remember last weekend when I made the cowboy caviar for a baby shower at work, but I made it a week too early? Well yesterday I defrosted it in the fridge, and took it in today, and it was delicious! It was just like it was brand new fresh. And everyone liked it. So win-win. But I forgot to take any photos at our shower/luncheon, so you’ll just have to take my word for it!
