As I was running out the door to get to church early for praise team rehearsal, this cute little girl was chilling on her stool, eating the fresh-baked chocolate chip muffins I made for breakfast, and just generally looking adorable.

Welp, I must have jinxed myself last night, because this baby did not sleep in. She was up by 6:30am! So her and I had some quiet movie time really early this morning together, which was actually really sweet.

So every day so far this week, I’ve taken her morning photos in her empty classroom when we hang up her bag, before going next door where her friends & teachers are, which is when she gets really clingy to me. And it’s been working! I’m this first photo, she’s leaning over the table, concerned about some crumbs she found.

When it was time to leave home this morning, I told Emerson I needed to grab my keys. Then she started hollering about needing her keys. I was like, “But Emmie, you don’t have any keys!” But of course she did, because they were in her purse set Aunt Meggie & Uncle Bo got her for her birthday! So we packed up her phone and keys in her purse, and headed out the door. She was upset though when we got to school, because after she put on her lipstick, I wouldn’t let her bring the purse inside (didn’t want it lost or misplaced), and eventually had to trick her into thinking I put it in her school bag, but really I stuffed it down next to her car seat.

This little summer-time baby helped me hang up her bag in her classroom, and then we marched next door where her friends and teachers were sharing a room for a bit. Nana got her these new faux Birkenstock sandals (from Old Navy), and they’re so adorable!

So for the first time in months, Emerson didn’t wake up at 6:15/6:30. Instead, I didn’t get her out of bed until 8am! But I was up at 7am making Amish Breakfast Casserole for our Sunday school class. So I’m gonna need her to sleep in again next Saturday and/or Sunday, to make it up to me! 😄
