Cardiologist Post-Op Follow-Up Read More »
So we had to update my website/blog last night, and it took forever, and required additional maintenance from my personal IT professional, Jeff. So I took the night off, and planned to just write two posts today. So this first one is Thursday’s update…Emmie and Nana went on another morning nature walk, and collected all sorts of good things to bring back and show me.

Emerson loves helping with chores, and feeding Pretzel is one of the things she can actually do on her own, even with all of her post-op “sternum precautions!” She loves doing it, and I love watching her do it.

I was off work again today, for one last full day, because we were supposed to go to the cardiologist’s office here in town. But there were a few miscommunications, and long story short – the appointment isn’t until Friday afternoon. So that just meant I got to spend one more day at home, doing nothing but being with my girl! We started off the morning with some “cunch cunch.”

This morning, Emerson woke up asking to do the letter book. At first, I didn’t even know what she meant, but then she said the letter book from Ms. Q, and I remembered this letter tracing book Ms. Q got her. She has such a great memory! Also, she was surprisingly good at this, for never trying to write letters like this before! I was super impressed!

We had one last meal at the little “picnic table” in the common hallway this morning, and then spent time cleaning and packing and getting the room spic & span again.

We had an extremely slow, lazy day, and barring a few traumatic experiences with bandages and medicines, it was pretty nice not to have to do anything or go anywhere. Emmie slept until around 7:45am, and then she got to open up a few more presents from some more of her favorite teachers from school. These were from Ms. Bridgett and Ms. Julia!

Jeff stayed in the hospital last night for the overnight shift, and he said both of he and Emerson were up pretty much all night. Emmie slept for about an hour at 10pm, and for about two hours at 5am. So both of them were obviously exhausted.

Last night, in my “bed” from across the room, I could NOT make myself close my eyes, even though I was super tired, because I just didn’t want to take my eyes off my baby girl.

Since we’ve posted a couple of times on Facebook throughout the day, most of you know the details by now. I’m of course still going to write today’s blog post though, although it’s certainly going to be difficult…
Perfect little angel baby, sleeping before we woke her up super early this morning. She had to have a bath in special anti antibacterial soap first thing this morning, and we had to be at the hospital at 6:30, so we had a very early wake-up call.

So one of the snacks we got at Costco with Nita a few weeks ago, was a bag of mini pancakes, packaged up in small bags of two each. You just heat them up in the microwave, and voila! So Emmie had pancakes in our room for breakfast today.

So the RMH isn’t providing hot cooked breakfast right now during covid stuff, and Emmie didn’t want milk and cereal today, so she chose chips instead. She ate almost half a can of cheddar Pringles, because that was just not a battle I wanted to fight with her!

All of you guys have spoiled this little girl (with help from us too, obviously), because she’s going to get to open at least one present a day the entire two weeks we’re here! Today, she got a backpack full of dresses, a pack of panties, and a new baby doll. Thank you, Mrs. Linda T. for the sweet gift!

We arrived at the hospital first thing this morning at 6:30am, while it was still dark outside. Mom & Jeff dropped us off, and I took Emmie inside for her procedure today. They gave her and her new bunny we named Bubblegum matching Tired Little Tiger hospital gowns.

We’ve loved getting to see Meggie & Bo and the triplets every morning before school this week. Emerson is the best big cousin, and absolutely loved seeing them and helping get them out and ready for school. And of course giving out all the hugs as well!

We got to school a few minutes before the Walker’s today, so we waited on the grass, and Emmie could barely stand the wait. She kept looking for their van and asking where they were, and then of course got super excited when we saw them!

Megan decided they would start coming to school a little earlier again this week, so that we could all see each other a few more times before Emmie’s surgery. So we got there first, and I told Emmie I was going to take a few pics of her by herself before they got there, but they were already pulling in, and you can see how excited she was when she recognized their van!

So one of our couch pillows busted a month or so ago, and we took it over and asked Grandmommie to fix it last night. (I do not know how to sew.) She did it while we were there & we brought it home. When Emmie saw it on the couch this morning, she literally cheered and was like, “Yay! Soft pillow party!” Then piled them all up around her, for morning cuddle times.
