Painting Rocks

East Hill was closed today for Juneteenth, so I took the day off work to hang out with my big girl. She requested waffles, with syrup, and strawberries for breakfast, and ate every single bite of this.

Daddy took Addison to school this morning, and she was a bit stoic at drop-off…

We had wanted to go “swimming” in our little backyard pool again today, but once we actually looked at the weather forecast and radar, we realized that was definitely not going to happen. So we found all the indoor crafts and activities to do instead, like this rock painting kit we’ve had for a while.

While waiting for the first side of the rocks to dry out, she put on some “workout” clothes and I pulled up a bunch of different kids zumba videos on YouTube, and she danced her little heart out.

I made her waffles and strawberries again for lunch (her request), and she ate everything again, and even had a second helping of strawberries. And look at how much my little windowsill green onions have grown over the past 10 days! I actually tore off and chopped some up for both my lunch and dinner, and they were good! (Click here to see where they started two Friday’s ago.)

After lunch, we continued on our rock-painting project, but one of us was now dressed as Mirabel from “Encanto.”

And then we did some Bible journaling together, and then I helped her copy mine, to do the exact same thing. We sang “Firm Foundation” in church when I was on praise team yesterday, and it’s been on repeat in my mind for a few days now, so this was based on that song, and scripture from Matthew 7.

And here’s our finished rocks as well! It was a moon-rock, space theme situation, so we’re not really sure why one of the sayings was “save the drama for your llama…” ?? But they’re still cute. The little phrases and icons were basically like those temporary tattoos, but for rocks instead.

She took herself a nice long soak in the bath tub with a bath bomb, and her Kindle set up to watch “Polly Pocket” on Netflix, and then I gave her a little mani/pedi while we watched “Raya” on Disney.

Before leaving the house to run pick up Addie Pie, I threw some chicken and onions with a bunch of seasonings into the Instant Pot, set it on high pressure, and then we hit the road.

Emmie had packed her little Mirabel purse and brought it with us in the car, and after a few minutes I realized she was super quiet, and I glanced behind me to find her reading “Matilda.” I sneakily took this first picture before saying anything to her, then I squealed and gushed over how adorable and precious she was, and how proud I was for her to be reading.

Can you even with this little girl?!?? We had such a great, easy-going day together today, and I just love this snaggle-tooth girl so much.

Baby Sister came home with some adorable little piggies in her hair, and then the girls shared some popcorn together and watched tv while I finished up dinner.

Have you seen that little hack where people shred chicken using a hand-mixer? Well, I finally tried it for the first time, and WOW. It took literally 3 seconds, and I did it for 2 more seconds just for fun, and it was all perfectly shredded and incredibly easy. I’ll definitely be doing it that way forever.

For dinner, I just made a lazy version of chicken & rice, using the instant pot shredded chicken, mixed into three bags of the Knorr cream chicken flavored pasta-rice, and it was so easy and so delicious, and the girls ate it up so good. I topped mine with the window-sill green onions, and also got all the surplus rice into tupperware’s for tomorrow.

We spent about 30 minutes just playing and making a mess in Addie’s room after dinner, playing “antique store” looking for vintage rugs for Emmie’s room, and reading books to Addie Pie. Then Emmie was a really sweet helper, and we got Addie’s room cleaned up and put everything back where it belongs.

I didn’t have time to do my own pedicure earlier today when I did Emerson’s, so I’m going to go do that now, and then read my book a little more, while Jeff does some sort of computer work…
