Bistro Lunch & Book Fair

So, drop-off this morning was weird at Growing Room. Just seconds before we walked in the door, the electricity went off again! They had been out for a few days at the end of last week due to the hurricane, but it came back and all was fine for school yesterday, but just clicked off this morning. So I dropped her off in the mostly dark center, with just the emergency lighting. It did come back on at some point, or else I would have had to go back and pick her up. I only took one photo with the flash, so I wouldn’t blind the little nugget.

Dinner at Sonny’s

This morning, I accidentally overslept by over an hour, but it was just so dang hard to get out of my own bed, after our first night back in a few days, and all the work we did around the house yesterday. By the time Emerson and I got to school, all her friends were sitting at the table eating breakfast. I got Emmie settled in, and took these photos while she watched her teacher getting her plate ready. She was just so sweet and interested and patient. And adorable!

Weekend Update

Wow, things have been crazy over the last 5-6 days. I haven’t blogged since last Wednesday, and that was just a few quick sentences after the hurricane came through, and our power had gone out, and we were sitting in a hot, dark house. I’ve done a few Facebook posts since then (when I was able to get some spotty cell service), so I’ll skip a few days, and just catch up on yesterday and today…

Hurricane Michael

Well, the worst of it didn’t hit Tally, but we’ve had crazy wind & a bunch of rain today. Approximately 80,000 people in Leon County have no power, and that includes us, my whole family, and Jeff’s parents as well. We lost power around 3:15, so we had peanut butter sammie’s & white cheddar popcorn for dinner. Emmie is asleep now, but we had no way to heat her night time bottle, so she wasn’t thrilled with that. She usually drinks 5oz, but tonight she only had 1oz of cold milk.

Jeff and I are currently sitting around in the candlelight (I’m reading Erin & Ben Napier’s book, he’s watching a movie on his phone), waiting for an appropriate-ish bedtime. Praying everything stays calm here through the night, and that tomorrow is a much better day all around!

Setting Sail From Cozumel – Cruise Day 5

FRIDAY, Day 5 – Day at Sea, sailing from Cozumel back to Tampa. (If you missed it, check out Day 1, Day 2, Day 3, and Day 4.)

Well, we once again ended up sleeping about 12 hours overnight. We had planned to get up early (around 8am), and head to the main dining room for a fancy breakfast, since we hadn’t made it yet. But when the alarms went off, and the wake-up call sounded, we turned them both off, and eventually settled back into the swaying of the boat, and went to sleep. We woke up again around 10am, and slowly got up and moving, and eventually left our room around 11am.

I don’t remember what we did for an hour, but I know around noon we went to the main dining room for lunch! Jeff and I shared a cheese plate for the appetizer (prepared by me buffet-style at the salad bar), and ordered the tomato risotto with grilled prawns and sea scallops for my main dish. And it was delicious! Super rich and creamy, but I couldn’t eat it all.  …

Playa Mia – Cruise Day 4

THURSDAY, Day 4 – Port of Call: Cozumel, Mexico. (If you missed it, check out Day 1, Day 2 & Day 3 first.)

Luckily, we got to sleep in again on day 4, since we had to wake up so early the day before. So we slept until about 9 a.m., had breakfast in the Windjammer, and then wen to morning trivia, where did absolutely terrible, and only got about 9 out of 20 questions.

A HUGE Announcement!!!

OK first of all, if you missed it, I posted my first 3 cruise blog post recaps today. Click here for Day 1, Day 2, and Day 3.

Today was another full day of hurricane prep. Schools were closed, State offices were closed, and we did a bunch of work around the house. Well, first we had egg & cheese bagels, and Emmie ate an entire slice of bread with her eggs & cheese.

Stingray City – Cruise Day 3

WEDNESDAY, Day 3 – Port of Call: George Town, Grand Cayman. (If you missed it, check out Day 1 and Day 2.)

We woke up super early on Wednesday morning, had a quick, light breakfast in the Windjammer, and reported to our meeting spot by 6:50 a.m., to head out on our excursion! The port here isn’t deep enough for the giant ships to go all the way in, so we all loaded up in a smaller tender to head to the island.

12 Hours of Sleep – Cruise Day 2

TUESDAY, Day 2 – Day at Sea sailing to George Town, Grand Cayman. (If you missed it, check out Day 1.)

We went to bed the night before, before 10pm, and we ended up sleeping in until 10am the next morning! As I mentioned before, we had an interior cabin, so there were no windows, and it was pitch black in our room. We had planned to wake up and get going around 8:30, but didn’t wake up until they made a ship-wide announcement, and it dinged in our cabin! Apparently, being the parents of a very busy 1-year-old girl makes you need 12 hours of sleep on the first night of your cruise!  …
