Soup & Sandwich

Beautiful sunshine this morning! Can y’all see those rays going upwards? I just love that!

But even with the beautiful sunshine, it was only about 42° this morning! So we busted out the first little jacket hoodie of the season (a new one from Nana), to make sure Emmie had some layers for school. And she loved this little Minnie outfit! She loved the hood & the pockets. The shirt underneath just has a large Minnie face, and it’s really cute.

Look at all this side eye! I don’t even know what she was saying or looking at, but this is funny to me.

And there’s my smiley girl again 🙂

I finished this audio book this morning, just a little bit after getting into my office. This is my third book by this author (all within the last few months), and while I liked this one, I rated her other two books I read both five stars, but rated this one only three stars. However, I read some reviews saying if you read this one followed in close succession by the sequel, they’re much better together. I’ve already got that one on hold, so I’ll jump into it soon.

Jeff picked me up and took me on a little lunch date at Jason’s Deli today. We both chose the Manager’s Special combo, with soup & sandwich, but we both picked different soups & sandwiches. But it was really good! I loved both my soup & sandwich (gonna try to stop saying soup & sandwich now…), and it was the perfect chilly day, still-feeling-under-the-weather lunch.

Emmie had a good day at school today, and her report said she was happy.

When we got in the car to head home, she got mad about some unidentified issue before we even left the parking lot, and she proceeded to scream and cry the entire 20-minute ride home. I tried talking to her, and reasoning with her, and trying to calm her down. I tried playing her favorite song (Jesus Loves Me), we tried calling Daddy so she could talk to him (which I what I thought she actually wanted), but she was unconsolable. When we finally made it home, and Jeff came to get her out of the car, she laid her head on his shoulder, and calmed down almost immediately. And then she was fine!

They snuggled and got the mail and took out the recycling, and I cooked dinner. (Really, I just warmed everything up.) But we had all our favorite Trader Joe’s Chinese foods – veggie fried rice, pork dumplings, and chicken spring rolls, with Yum Yum sauce on the side. Which was a happy coincidence, since the audio book I finished this morning was all about two Chinese sisters and their stories/family.

Emerson always loves these little pork dumplings, so I made twice as many as usual tonight. That turned out to be a good thing, because they come in a box of nine, and she ate like five or six of them herself!

We had lots of fun after dinner just playing and hanging out and watching a little bit of the “Sing” movie, which loved, because it’s just animals and music.

She played with her purse…

Ate ice on her stool…

Gave Pretzel a kiss…

Had a tiny Rice Krispy treat from her Halloween stash… (Of which mommy & daddy will raid later for movie snacks.)

Daddy flew her up in the air…

She got on her jammies and gave her ‘mingo a night-night hug and kiss…

Changed her slippers…

And then cuddled with Mommy while I read her bedtime books. ❤️

I forgot to take a photo of the silver inside the other book when I said I would last week, but here it is now, and it’s such a pretty book with a sweet story.

She did really, really good with bedtime tonight, and she was so tired and sleepy. We were both so warm and cozy in our jammies, and we were cuddling so sweet, but I laid her down in her crib and covered her with a nice warm blanket.

Still not feeling great unfortunately, so I decided to leave all the dish-washing for tomorrow, and just settle down with a few pieces of Halloween candy, and a cup of hot tea.
