Perfect Fall Family Day

Happy November! (On the second, since I missed it yesterday.)

Emerson woke up super early, around 6:20 today. My hubby took charge though and went to get her up, while he let me rest longer. So I got to sleep until about 7:45, and then I woke up to find her eating Cheerios and animal crackers from a pile on the coffee table 😝

And sharing with Pretzel.

She snuggled up with Mommy for a while on the couch, watching some Netflix, while daddy ran to grab us breakfast sandwiches from Whataburger.

We hung around the house for a little while longer playing and watching videos, then we got dressed and ready to go. Meggie invited us over to their house to hang out and have lunch with them, so we headed over to their side of town. Emmie played with this new nesting doll from Grammy and Papa for almost the whole ride over there, and was doing a great job matching up all the pieces.

Then we had lots of fun playing with Aunt Meggie and Uncle Bo and the baby triplet cousins!

Emerson insisted on sitting in the babies’ Bumbo seats, and of course she fit! So she had her lunch sitting in Riley’s seat.

Then we hung out on the back porch for a while, and Emmie had the best time throwing the tennis ball with Uncle Bo for their black lab, Gracie.

Riley.

Ellie.

Kensley.

Then right before it was time for us to leave, we got to watch the baby girls have some fruit for their lunch.

We kept Emmie awake on the drive home, even though she was super tired, because I knew if she fell asleep in the car, she wouldn’t want to sleep at home. But once we got home, she was out like a light in the first couple minutes, so that was easy. Then I washed the dishes and cleaned the kitchen, made an iced coffee (accidentally used too much creamer), and then opened all the windows and the back screen door. I settled on the couch to start reading the first Harry Potter illustrated book, but only made it one chapter before deciding I needed to rest my eyes for a quick nap.

Emerson napped for about two hours, and then once she woke up, we raced around the house gathering up a few things we needed, and Emmie had a quick sit on the little potty.

Then we drove out to Grammy and Papa’s house (and I wrote up to this point of the blog on my phone) to hang out with them for a while! And it was such perfect, beautiful weather to be outside, enjoying this nice fall day! We took wagon rides, put out some corn for the deer, and played in the grass.

Grandmommie and Emerson shared an apple for a snack, and then while the rest of us had chili for dinner, Emmie ate cheese noodles and a hot dog.

Emmie had lots of fun in the bath tub, and even helped Grammy by washing her own tiny body, and helping with her hair too.

We left shortly after bath time, to make the trek back over to our side of town for bed time. Emmie was super sweet on the ride home, and we held hands most of the way. She stayed awake the whole time, but was relatively quiet, compared to her usual chattiness.

Grandmommie crocheted Emerson a new blanket and gave it to her tonight. On the ride home, she didn’t want it in her lap at first, so I put it on the armrest next to her. Then later, she reached over & grabbed it, and was holding it and hugging it to her face. It was really sweet. Then she laid it out on her lap.

We got home a few minutes after 8pm, and started the bed time as soon as we got home. We did two short books, then prayers and lullabies, and she was really calm and sweet and sleepy and ready for bed.

Since we had dealt with most of the chores earlier in the day, there’s not much to be done tonight. Jeff is going to work on some laundry now, and I’ll light a candle and put on my warm PJ pants, then grab a few pieces of Halloween candy for TV time. Today was a great day! Great weather, great food, great family time. I love slow weekends like this.
