Back to School

Emerson finally woke up fever-free this morning! After fevers (some super high!) since last Friday, my poor girl was ready to get back to normal! And she was acting fine and seemed to be feeling fine, so we got back to our normal routine and she went to school this morning.

These next few photos are when she remembered muffins all of a sudden, and got really excited about it!

I love that tiny mid-drift peeking out.

And of course she loved getting her muffin and taking it to class!

I had a super random lunch today, since I didn’t really have a complete “meal” to bring with me – I had rice, a banana, a cheese stick, and a bag of mini muffins. Random, but yummy 😊 And I read some more of my new library book, and it’s getting interesting.

Emmie’s teachers said she had a good day back at school today, so that’s a huge praise!

Then all of us met at Popeye’s for dinner before church. It’s the first time in a while all of us (including Jeff and Papa, since they’re the more in-frequent attendees) have been able to make it, and it was so fun! Emmie loves chicken and biscuits (and cheese noodles) too, so she ate really well.

Then Grammy gave her another small bag of M&M’s, so she ate them with Papa.

So if you look closely at the photo below, you’ll notice the top left tooth is a little darker than the others. Almost three weeks ago, she tripped and fell at school, and her top gum had a cut and was bleeding. But we didn’t notice anything else. Then last Thursday night, while we were at the ER actually, Jeff and I both noticed it was looking a little darker than usual. Since then, it’s gotten a little bit darker every day. So tonight, we were trying to get a photo of it, just because, but tomorrow we’re going to take her to see the pediatric dentist, just to be on the safe side. We’re pretty sure nothing can be done, since it’s just a baby tooth, but we’d rather err on the side of caution.

So, Jeff had planned to take Emerson home after dinner, since we didn’t want to overdo it on her first day back in the world after being sick for so long, and Wednesday’s are long, hard days for her anyways. But he got a few minutes down the road, and she kept repeating, “I wanna go to church Daddy, I wanna go to church Daddy!” So he turned around and brought her to church! Makes me proud and happy that she loves church so much though!

When I woke up this morning, it seemed I had developed Emerson’s cough and congestion. So even though I could only barely sing tonight due to the coughing and the slightly gravelly voice, we still had a great night in choir. This particular song we started working on is pretty tricky, but it was fun trying to work out our parts.

Jeff took home Emerson after regular choir ended, and I stayed for the remainder of Christmas choir. He was going to attempt to get her down for bed at a decent time, because again, first day out in the world… But when they got home, she announced she was hungry, and was saying, “BUSTER, DADDY!” So she had her leftover mac & cheese & biscuit from dinner while watching a little bit of Buster the Bus. (Notice to other toddler parents – the little ones love it, but it’s terrible & the songs get stuck in your head for roughly forever. I don’t recommend it 😉 )

So she didn’t get to sleep early, but once we started the bedtime routine, she did go down pretty easily.

Since I’m not feeling super great, I’m drinking a glass of OJ now, and I’m gonna ask hubby to make me a cup of hot tea next too. Then I’ll take some night-time cough medicine and head to bed early. Hoping & praying I can kick this bad boy before it turns into a whole full-blown thing.
