Thanksgiving 2021

We have had a great Thanksgiving! So much good food (obviously) and the best time with both of our families. It’s almost 10pm already though, so let’s just basically photo-dump & run… This “My first turkey day” was Emerson’s outfit four years ago, and even though it’s a size 3-month, it still fits Addison 🙂

The sweetest big-girl helper!

While I held a sleeping baby on the back porch, Jeff and Emmie went on a little exploration adventure around the back yard…

Tried letting Addie sleep in the pack-n-play, but she didn’t last long in there, which was fine since she slept in my arms for a good little rest first. But Emmie climbed right in with her, and they played for a long time while Nana and I got lunch ready, and Jeff played with them.

With only four adults, and one Emmie (and Addie’s tiny bites of potatoes), Nana made enough for more like 10 people!

Addie sat in this big girl seat at the table for the first time, and she did really well.

We went back home after lunch so that Emmie could have a good nap in her bed, and I could work on my contributions for dinner tonight at my parents’ house, a Joanna Gaines salad and glazed carrots. I peeled, diced and roasted some butternut squash, made some homemade salad dressing, and peeled and sliced up some carrots.

Then we went over to Grammy’s house. Addison fell asleep in the car (she almost always does) so the girls came over very quietly to see her and hug on Emmie when we got there.

My fancy salad, with roasted butternut squash, dried cranberries, pepitas (roasted pumpkin seeds), parmesan, and homemade dressing. I saw Joanna Gaines make this on her show, and it looked so good and I though it would be perfect for Thanksgiving, and I loved it!

We all love Old Navy dresses, and we all have a lot of the same ones, and I think we all three have the one my mom & I wore today. So it’s kinda funny none of us were actually wearing the same one today.

All the girls (sans Addie) had a bath together after dinner and then did some more playing. We stayed there past all the girls’ usual bedtimes, so we all started getting a little grumpy and grouchy, so we finally got loaded up and all headed home. We tried to tell Emmie she could just rest in the car, but the girl does not know what that means, so she still talked for almost the whole 30-minute drive home.

When we were at home and I was putting her to bed, she was like, “I’m so tired from all the running around trying to keep up with my babies.” So she went to sleep really quickly, and Addie never woke up from the car ride home, except for just briefly when we got her out of her car seat. Jeff and I have just been holding her tonight since we got home, and she’s due for another bottle now, then we’ll put her to bed, and head to bed soon ourselves too.

So thankful for my little family, and both my family and my in-laws, our cozy home, steady jobs, good friends, and so many other countless blessings in my life. Definitely feeling grateful, thankful and blessed today
