I made delicious and simple egg and cheese sesame bagels with butter for breakfast this morning. Well, bagels for three of us, but Addie just wanted a plate of eggs only.
We did some very minor cleaning up around the living room, then got dressed, and the girls and I went across town to meet up with Nana at Urban Air. She had wanted to take them this past week as an end-of-the-summer celebration, but it just never happened. And since today was kinda rainy and gloomy, it was a good day for an indoor activity. We stayed there for about 2.5 hours, and the girls had a blast! They ran hard the whole time we were there, only sitting down for a quick popcorn & Icee snack for about 20 minutes towards the end. We got Emerson the “ultimate” pass, and she was able to do all the things, and the was so brave, doing all the “big kid” things for the first time, and totally killing it!
Little Sister was there trying her hardest too, but she mainly just ended up in the ball pit most of the time. Also, I stayed with Emmie most of the time, and Nana stayed with Addie, so I don’t have very many pics of Addie, but she had a blast too!
It was after 2pm by the time we got home, so I forced Addison to lay down and take a nap, even when she said she wasn’t sleepy. But of course she ended up sleeping for just over two hours!
While Addison was sleeping, Emerson and I went out to run a few errands. I went by 7Brew first to get a coffee, and tried their banana bread mocha for the first time, and it was so good. I’ve seen the sign for it for months, but was nervous I wouldn’t like it, but I actually loved it. I need it a gain tomorrow I think… e went to the library for a bit to pick up some holds, and I just happened to notice they had games you could check out to stay and play there, so we got Uno and played a few rounds, and it was so fun!
Emmie and I also ran into Dollar Tree for a few supplies. We’ve started “shopping” there kind of randomly this summer, and then we get a $5 off $25 coupon good every Saturday, so we go back specifically for the essentials we’d buy anyways, and save ourselves $5! I did indeed get another one today for next Saturday, so I’m sure we’ll be back there next weekend.
After running back home to pick up Addie, the three girls went out for one more errand, while we left Jeff at home finishing up some yard work and getting a shower. We went over to Rabbit Creek market to pick up a birthday present for my dad (I think I can safely say that, since he doesn’t usually read this, but I’ll keep it generic for now anyways), and the girls and I just wandered around checking out lots of cool things. But I can’t tell you how many times I said, “No, stop touching that!!”
And then we had some fun stopping at a few Little Free Library’s on our way home, and each of us found a book or two for our collections!
We met up with Jeff for dinner at Whataburger, but we spent the whole time trying to get ChatGPT to turn pictures into the perfect little cartoon renderings, instead of taking any new photos. Then I got the girls into the bathtub when we got home, and while they splashed around for a while, I put fresh sheets on our bed. And while Jeff had stripped the bed this morning to launder everything, he didn’t get our normal quilt finished up yet. So I pulled out this beautiful old heirloom quilt that was my great-grandmother’s, from approximately who even knows how long ago… Plus the crab that Addie added 😉 (See the quilt again here back in 2018, and then it’s featured every night for almost a whole week when we did a little reading challenge with kids books, which was also right when the triplets were born, so there’s lots of good stuff going on back then in 2019! Here, here, here & here. I also used to post like twice as many photos a day; it was so many.)
Anyways, lots of cuddles for Pennie dog while watching Bluey, and then it was snuggle time in mommy’s bed with the quilt that they both loved and were very impressed with.
Emerson fell asleep almost instantly once we actually settled down after reading a tiny book. Addison tried to settle down, but it took her longer to fall asleep.
So while I was playing lullabies on my phone, and singing along with them, Addie was just watching me. Then she propped her cheek in her hand and was giving me this absolutely precious little smile listening to me sing “I Get to Love You,” and I literally choked up and got tears in my eyes. It was just a special, very sweet moment between me and my baby girl, and I’m so thankful that I get to love her. And her big sister.
Jeff went over to his dad’s church after dinner to work on their video camera or something or other, but he’s on his way back home now. I’m gonna keep watching my little Netflix show until he gets home, and take this chippy nail polish off my nails, to get ready to paint tomorrow afternoon sometime…
