Water Slide & Street Tacos

Gotta start of the day with wild hair and teeth brushing!

And then we took a super early grocery shopping trip to Publix to stock up for the impending apocalypse. You know we normally do Walmart grocery pick-up, but I waited too long, and by the time I went to confirm last night, there were no free times for like three days, at any Walmart in town. So we went early this morning to beat the crowds, and it was perfect! There was barely anyone there, especially since most of the college kids are gone, and the store was still super well-stocked. They were running low on paper products, but there was plenty of everything else! (As I say this, I realize those soup shelves are looking low, but we didn’t buy any soup so I didn’t notice it then.)

She always wants to hop up on these scales, but she never actually gains any weight. This tiny tot is just a mere 22 pounds, which is the same (or maybe less) than a few of her triplet cousins 🙂

Also, this was the largest grocery bill I’ve ever paid at one time. But I figured we needed to stock up for the next 3-4 weeks, just in case we all got put on lockdown like Italy or something. So we’re prepared!

After getting our cold stuff put away, and put Emerson’s bathing suit on, we got ready to head out for a birthday party, for her friend Joshua from church, who is the oldest son of our friends Hannah & Brennan, in our Sunday school class.

And some of our other friends & their kids were there, and Emerson’s friend Caroline took really good care of her on the bouncy water slide, and they had so much fun! Caroline’s younger brother Luke was also there, and even though he wasn’t super into the bouncy slide, he did run all around the rest of the yard & party with them. And the three of them were so sweet!

This is Caroline & Luke next to Emmie. They pretty much all just ate the icing off the cupcakes, and then immediately started running around again.

It was a construction-themed party, and Emerson was super excited about that actually. Especially when she got her very own hard hat!

We actually ended up staying there almost a full hour and a half after it was scheduled to end, but we couldn’t get our tiny tot off the slide! So we just sat down under the tent with our friends and chatted for a while, and enjoyed the perfect weather while our kids all played in the water.

After party time, we went home and immediately got Emerson down for her nap. She actually fell asleep during the very first lullaby, so that was a breeze. She really wore herself out! While she napped, Jeff worked on a ton of laundry, and I worked on washing the dishes, and then took a shower myself. Emmie had a bath when she woke up, and then Jeff showered, and we were finally all clean & smelling better.

And then by that time, it was time to eat! Even after all those groceries we bought this morning, we wanted to just eat out tonight, so we decided to go try a new taco place for dinner, Taco Mora, down on Pensacola Street. And it was sooooo good. I got the al pastor tacos, and Jeff got classic beef tacos, and we both loved them. Mine were honestly some of the best tacos I’ve ever had in my life. Like seriously, right up there next to the amazing ones we had on our honeymoon in Mexico. We will definitely be back to visit this place for tacos again.

After dinner, we went to Ross to return that sofa table I mentioned the other day, and look for a new shirt for Jeff to wear to the wedding next weekend. And while most people are being super careful not to touch anything out in public, toddlers are out here rolling around on the floor testing out pink fur rugs, hahaha.

When we finished our shopping trips, it was still such great weather outside, so we hung out in the yard, running around with Pretzel in the grass, and rolling down the hill.

It took a while to get her on board with bedtime, but we did it eventually, and read some books and watched a few calm videos and did lots of family hugs, followed up by prayers and lullabies.

I’m very glad there’s no dishes to wash or kitchen to clean, so I’m ready to just sit down and rest, because today was great, but exhausting!
