Rain Boots

Emerson was in a great mood today, and we had a great drop-off at school this morning.

My new-work-friend Amanda brought in some fresh-picked satsuma’s from her yard today, and they were soooo good. I ate two of these in a row, and I plan to grab a few more tomorrow, when she brings more.

Now let’s take a trip down memory lane… This first photo is from the 2016 Trunk or Treat; I was pregnant with Emerson, but didn’t know it yet! We made the igloo, and (loosely) dressed a penguins, and put the candy inside the igloo hole for the kids to reach in and grab. And it was so fun!

Then this was a year later, in 2017, on the coldest day of Emmie’s tiny life up till that point, so we bundled her up for church that morning, and she looked like a tiny marshmallow. Later that night, we took her to the fall festival at Megan & Bo’s church, bundled up again in a super warm lion costume. Sooooo cute!!

That same year in 2017, Megan, Emerson and I were all Supergirl together.

And then one more year later, Trunk or Treat 2018 – we did a Harry Potter themed trunk, and handmade her a Hedwig costume, that she hated and only wore for 30 seconds for this photo 🙂

And then last year, she was the cutest baby unicorn!

OK, and now back to 2020… After we got home from work and school today, Emmie wanted to go outside to play, since they didn’t get to go one the playground at school today. So while I did some work in the kitchen, Jeff took Emerson outside to play. He actually bought her some cheap little rain boots at Walmart today, and she was dying to go test them out!

And then she had to also put on her rain jacket as well, even thought it was warm and steamy outside.

As I mentioned yesterday, I have started meal-planning for an entire month at a time. It might sound like a lot, but it’s really not that hard. I got it from Kendra @TheLazyGenius on Instagram, and I think it’s been really fun for me, and also really easy too. I also chatted back and forth for a while with my friend Connie today about food and meal plans and lunches, and it was fun to share ideas and means and recipes with each other. So here’s what my November meal plan looks like, just in case you’re interested 🙂

Just as I was finished up our super simple dinner, and Jeff and Emmie were getting all of us fresh ice water, she walked right into the water bottle as Jeff turned around with it, and it busted her lip. Poor girl was so sad and pitiful. We got her calmed down really quickly though, and then she was completely fine and chomping down on her grilled cheese sandwich and sweet potato tots, less than five minutes later!

After dinner, the three of us snuggled up on the couch together to watch a little bit of a movie before bedtime. But we let her stay up a little later, waiting on a slightly impromptu visit from Nana. She made a big batch of homemade chicken noodle soup for their dinner tonight, and wanted to bring us some of the leftovers for our lunches tomorrow. And of course I wouldn’t have turned that down! Especially since we were completely out of lunch… She only stayed for about 20 minutes, but Emmie got to play with her and take selfies (with her dollar store phone) with her, and give her goodnight hugs.

We read one quick book, and she ate her granola bar for a bedtime snack, and although she wasn’t tired and didn’t want to go to sleep, we did lullabies and prayers, and then she settled down.

I had already washed a big sink full of random dishes earlier while the tots were baking for dinner, so there are only like 3 dirty dishes left from dinner tonight, and those can wait. I’ve watched an episode of “When Calls the Heart” while blogging (I’m on season five now), and it’s gonna be my bedtime soon, because Mama is tired!
