No-Nap Monday

Still going strong loving her new Cinderella toothbrush. She had been pretty good about brushing before, but now with this new toothbrush from the dentists office, she’s even more into it. (Also, that dry patch of skin on her cheek is finally getting better, after we got my friend Abby/Emmie’s pediatrician to look at it yesterday at church, and recommended simple hydrocortisone.)

This cutie girl was just adorable today, with a muffin in her hand and a rainbow on the booty of her romper!

I read my new Kindle library loan on my lunch break today, and ate some of last night’s Thai leftovers. However, they did not hold up well, so I didn’t eat all of it. I think the coconut cream/milk didn’t like being refrigerated, and it turned weird and greasy when microwaved. Blech.

Emerson looked super cute at school, bit apparently she had a rough day. I think her lead teacher was out today (maybe?) and it appears no one could get her to nap, so she just didn’t sleep. All. Day. She is NOT the kind of kid who can skip a nap and still function, so when I picked her up, she was standing on the playground just kind of whining…

After work, I picked up my Tater Tot, and we headed over to Trader Joe’s for one item I forgot the other day, for our easy TJ’s meal hack for tonight’s dinner. (It wasn’t a great trip though, with my whiny, grumpy girl.) We did a little meatless Monday this evening, but with plenty of carbs & cheese still, plus a good, healthy dose of veggies. This meal was also only four ingredients, and also just as yummy! Oh, and what pasta meal is complete without garlic toast?

The butternut squash ravioli itself was delicious, and it was good with the boursin cheese and spinach, but I put too much peas in it, so that wasn’t the best.

She was super whiny throughout dinner, and barely ate anything other than crackers and garlic bread. We did eventually get her to eat the better part of a strawberry applesauce pouch, so that was good. We had a tiny window of sweet toddler time after dinner, but then by bedtime, she was just too far gone and everything was the worst. She didn’t want to go to bed, she didn’t want me or Jeff, she didn’t want books or lullabies, and she was just a big ball of exhaustion.

Jeff and I both took turns, and eventually got her down at a decent time. But now, about 40-ish minutes later, she’s waking up and crying for me again. I try to be soooo patient with her when she’s like this, but the sleep-fighting is one of my biggest pet peeves. The ONE thing she needs is sleep, and that’s the ONE thing she won’t do. So everyone say a prayer I can get her back to sleep (while staying sane myself), and that she’ll sleep through the rest of the night. Yikes.
