To start our Christmas Eve Sunday, we had a traditional Christmas Eve service this morning. It was my first Sunday not serving anywhere, and it was so nice to sit in the pew with my little family.
We actually had all the kids in the service today too, and I loved seeing Emerson singing and worshiping along with everyone.
Church was followed by Firehouse Subs for lunch, where Addie kept asking for bites of this “popsicle.”
After lunch, while all the kids were napping, Jeff and I had to do some wrapping. (That’s the third time I’ve used that rhyming line today.) And once again this year, I was reminded how lucky and grateful I am that I have a husband that not only wraps all the gifts with me, but it is actually really good at it. He’s actually better at it than I am!
Emerson napped about two hours, and Addison napped about three hours, and then we went over to Nana & PopPop’s house. We had dinner and some playtime and the girls each opened one Christmas gift. (The boys wanted to save all of theirs for tomorrow.)
I brought my nail polish over to do my nails with a Christmas red, and when Emerson saw, she wanted me to do hers too. And then Addison had to get in on it, and she ended up with one messy red nail on each hand. Mine and Emmie’s turned out great though!
We made homemade panini’s with soup and fruit and cheese & crackers for a simple but yummy dinner.
And for dessert we had some of Nana’s famous chocolate oatmeal no-bake cookies for dessert, before heading home.
Emmie found some Christmas jammies to put on for tonight, and she was so excited to go to bed, just so she could wake up for Christmas tomorrow!
Both girls were very sleepy, and we got them in bed with no issues. We also successfully wrapped all of the gifts this afternoon, so now I just have to do the stockings before bedtime. The only problem, Addie’s stocking is under the tiny tree in her room! So I’m going to have to sneak in there and attempt to get it without waking her up…
Oh also, when I looked at all of today’s photos in the upload folder, I noticed there was something red in every single photo. So that made me think of the Kelly Clarkson Christmas song, “Wrapped In Red.”
Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!
