Tomato Land

You guys, we got to sleep in today! I actually had my alarms set for 8am, but I slept right through them, and didn’t wake up until 9am, and then I didn’t actually get out of bed until more like 9:30am. I got the girls some breakfast, and I had a little protein shake, and then we spent some time cleaning up Addie’s crazy-messy bedroom. Addie also helped Daddy with the laundry out in the carport too.

Then we all got dressed and ready, and headed over to meet up with Grammy for lunch at Sonny’s for lunch.

Then Jeff went back home to work on stuff around the house, and Grammy and the girls and I went out to do some back-to-school shopping. I found these “viral” Hobbry puzzles that all the puzzle people on PuzzleTok are obsessing over, and I decided to buy two of the four or five options they had there. They’re a nice matte finish, with very cute designs, and only $9.99! They’re only sold at places like TJ Maxx (where I found these), Marshall’s, & Home Goods. So I might have to look around and see if I can find any more.

We also went to Walmart to finish stocking up the supplies, and ended our activities with a trip to Elliano’s for an afternoon pick-me-up. The girls both got fruit smoothes (strawberry-banana for Emmie, and berry blast for Addie), and Grammy and I got coffee chillers (cookie butter for me, and mocha-banana for Grammy). Grammy always used to love the Chunky Monkey coffee from the little coffee counter on the first floor of the hospital back in the day. It’s not there anymore, or not the same, but she’s figured out how to order that same coffee here, and it’s her fave!

We parted ways with Grammy after that, so she could go meet up with Meggie and her kiddos for school shopping. So the girls and I went to Hobby Lobby to look at puzzles there, because I had seen a post online of people finding some for $2.49. I only saw one marked at that price, but I did see this one for $4.74, and sent the photo to Grammy, and she liked it so we bought it for her. Then both girls picked a cute dino to buy with some of their birthday money.

Our last stop around town was the new Tomato Land produce spot right in Midtown, where 7th, Thomasville & Meridian all meet up. It’s a local farmer from Southern Georgia, that set up a little shop in an old gas station. I don’t really know what the prices were for anything, but this tiny haul cost $22, so that’s a bit steep for this. I know those peas are pricey, but the rest of this stuff shoulda been dirt cheap!

And when we got home, Daddy had set up our backyard blow-up pool for the girls! I got in and sat with them for a few minutes to play and cool off, but then I just wanted to sit and read while they played together.

Jeff and the girls had chicken nuggets & mac & cheese leftover from a couple of nights ago, and I had a couple of tomato sandwiches with that bright red fresh tomato. Literally the perfect summer meal.

Since the girls had washed up outside in the pool in the backyard, we were able to just chill and take it easy tonight. Things were so chill in fact, that I fell asleep on the couch for a little bit while the girls were cuddled up to me, watching a movie. But they were both exhausted by bedtime, and very much ready for sleep. Then as I was loving Addie goodnight, she was like,”I’ve been in such a good mood today,” then she said shopping with Grammy was her favorite part of the day!
