Labor Day 2019 has been a good one!
First thing this morning, Emerson and I went over to Aunt Meggie & Uncle Bo’s house. I wanted to see the babies a little bit, and Aunt Meggie wanted some special one-on-one time with Emmie.
I got to feed Riley a bottle, while Bo did double-bottle-duty with Ellie and Kensley, and Meggie fed Emmie some cheesy scrambled eggs. (In order below : Kensley, Riley, Ellie.)
Ellie Grace (at almost 6 months) was actually wearing one of Emmie’s old outfits today. The last time Emerson wore it, in January (pictured on the left of the collage below), she was 18 months old!! 😁😂😍 (For reference, I think the outfit is 6-month size.)
Emerson “helped” swaddle Riley, and then she really did help get all their sound machines and rock-n-play’s turned on for nap time.
For about an hour, she got some special time with Uncle Bo & Aunt Meggie, and it wad really sweet.
Meggie was giving her lessons on forward rolls.
When it was time to go, she had to go on a mini-adventure, wandering around in the grass.
We stopped to check out a Goodwill on the parkway, and even though Emmie found this tiny vacuum she liked, we isn’t buy anything. I’ve been on the hunt for some salad bowls (like the large plate-bowl hybrids you’d get when you order a salad in the restaurant, or some of those bamboo/wooden/woven ones from the 70’s or 90’s or something. Let me know if you see something like that, or have something you’re getting rid of! I got the bug for large, but individual-sized salad bowls, after finding this recipe. I really want to make it, but I want new bowls first!
After some butter noodles and a fruit/vegge pouch for lunch, I got Emerson down for her nap.
Jeff had stayed home this morning to mow the front yard, so while Emmie napped, he showered, and I got us some lunch. We ate and watched TV, then I fell asleep for a short 45-ish minute nap. After Emerson woke up, we ran to Publix for diapers, wipes & dog food. Plus a cookie from the bakery for her.
Then we went back to Nana & PopPops house to finish up the painting project. I took on the daunting stairwell, and did as much edging and rolling as I could reach. Jeff had to take over eventually, and use the roller-extender thing to finish the top parts, and we got it all done!
Nana had already painted a lot of the living room, so we let her have a break, and so she hung out with Emerson on the back porch. She played in her little tiny pol, and also drove this princess carriage around, and had a grand ole time.
We had pizza with them for dinner, and Emmie had Smartie’s for her first dessert, followed by Oreo’s for everyone.
While most of us worked on taking all the painters tape off the walls, Emerson Swiffered most of the downstairs.
We helped clean up as much as we could, before Emerson started getting super tired and cranky, so we headed on home. I went to take a picture of our freshly mowed yard, and Tater Tot just had to take a quick run around!
We did jammies, one more snack (Goldfish & ice water), and bedtime books on Mommy’s lap. Then Daddy came in and sat on the floor next to us. Emerson got down to hug him, then when it was time for prayers, she knelt at the footstool like this, with her hands folded, all on her own. She is the sweetest!
She was really easy to get to sleep again tonight, which is a big praise, because nap time was the opposite today! Full discosure – I lost my temper with her abou three times trying to get her down for her nap, where we were both crying (her screaming, me just tearing up), and once I calmed myself down (multiple times), I finally apologized to her because I felt so bad. But it’s just tough sometimes! Anyways, she went down super easy for bedtime tonight. We are all exhausted after a busy, hard, physical day, so I doubt we will be up too late tonight.
