Time After Time

This pretty little girl was the very first one in her Sunday school class today at church, so I stayed and played with her for a few minutes.

I had nursery duty in the infant room today during the Sunday School hour, but strangely enough, there were no infants! So the other volunteer and I just got to sit and chat for a while about all the things, and that was actually really nice.

Last week, we sang “It Is Well” and I cried in the choir loft, because we sang that song at my Granddaddy’s memorial service in 2016. Today, we sang “In Christ Alone,” and I once again cried in the choir loft, singing the line “from life’s first cry, to final breath, Jesus commands my destiny.” Thinking about life’s first cry from a tiny newborn babe just chokes me up!

After the service, Jeff and I had “exit greeter duty,” which means we hold open a set of double doors, shaking hands and saying things like, “hope you have a great week!” So while we did that, Grammy picked up Emerson, and they got loves from the rest of the family. But then she did not want to leave them, so Grammy just took her with them to lunch! We met them there at Panda Buffet, along with Grandmommie, Uncle Keith & Aunt Suzanne. And this girl ate so well! She always loves Chinese food.

After lunch, Emmie still didn’t want to leave her family, so she went home with Grammy and Papa! I told them it was fine with me, as long as she took a nap! So Emmie and Grammy laid down in their big bed, and after some playing and lots of singing “Jesus Loves Me,” she did finally fall asleep and take a good, long nap. (First photo – faking it, second photo – “I wake up!”, third & fourth photos – out!)

Back at our house, Jeff went to our bed for a nap right away, but I settled in a comfy chair in our reading room/dining room, to finish up my library book. And it was sooo good!

I also finally rearranged the top of my bookshelf to include this 31-year-old clock that used to belong to my Grandparents, and I don’t know why it took me so long (I’ve had it over a year), because I love it up there! The clock is not currently working, but I might just take it to someone to get fixed up.

I also did some (different/temporary) rearranging to stage this photo to post about the book on Instagram, and that was cute too.

I had literally *just* finished reading this book, and instantly had to share it, because I liked it so much. It was a beautiful mix and fantasy and romance, and sort of time-travelly, but, also not. And I just really, really liked it. I also LOVED the setting in Grand Central Terminal in the 1930’s & 40’s. It’s one of those stories where the setting itself becomes a character, and it was beautiful. Highly recommend this one! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5 out of 5 stars, and this is book #80 so far this year!)

After reading for about 30 minutes, I napped on the couch for about 30 minutes, and then played on my phone and puttered around the house for about 30 minutes. And then it was time to go pick up my girl from Grammy! We then went back to Nana’s house, to help her out some more with her big weekend project. But first, I tried to take some pretty portrait shots in their neighbors beautiful front yard, but she was being so wiggly and crazy!

Emerson did a little cooking and playing and swimming, and we Nana and I took turns either working or playing with her.

But Emmie also wanted to help, so she “helped” me tape the hallway baseboards!

She got cold in the pool, so we put on her jammies, and she went up and down the stairs quite a few times, waiting for PopPop to get back with dinner.

We did books and prayers and got ready for bedtime, and she was really sweet tonight. After our usual three bedtime lullabies, she sweetly laid down in her crib, and was more than ready to go to sleep. But first, she drank a TON of water from this new cup Nana got. She had actually planned to keep it at her house, but of course Emmie was instantly attached to it, and we just had to bring it home.

There are currently two guys riding their dirt bikes up and down the road right in front of our house, and driving (pun intended) me bananas. Jeff’s theory is they’re either new, or they’re letting their buddies test them out for fun. But they’re so loud and annoying! I feel like I’m about 90 years old complaining about “those young whipper snappers out there,” but my word fellas, it IS 9pm after all!
