Counting to Ten

This pretty little princess had a perfect morning drop-off. We stopped outside for our usual morning-photos, and then she walked in by herself. She marched all the way down the hallway, straight into her classroom, and just went right for Ms. Sheila! She picked her up, and then Emerson turned around and waved bye to me! No fussing, whining or crying at all. And I practically skipped out I was so happy 🙂

(P.S. – don’t judge her super wrinkly skirt. I’m not an iron-er.)

We are T-Mobile subscribers (they have surprisingly great coverage, and we have unlimited data, if you’re wondering), and every week they do T-Mobile Tuesday’s, and give away free stuff. Today was a free Whopper. Which worked out perfectly, since we didn’t have anything at home to pack for lunch. Jeff and I both downloaded the free Whopper code, ordered through the BK app, and he picked me up for a very frugal lunch date 😉 We added fries & onion rings, and shared both. Jeff had also been wanting to try their new $1 tacos, so he got one of those. I took one bite, and it was sorta ok, but I won’t ever order it for myself… And yes, this was wayyy too much food.

Despite the fact it appears one of her friends tried to “steal” her little car (and that she had a super short 48-minute nap), it looks like overall Emerson had a good day at school!

Two years ago, my sweet baby was only 8 weeks old! And this photo of Jeff, Pretzel & Emerson is one of my all-time favorites – everyone just looks so sweet and content. It’s framed in my office 🙂

I picked up my sweet Tater Tot after school and work, she had a snack with Daddy when we got home, and I got started on cooking dinner. We had one of my tried & true, super simple meals – pasta with meat sauce (sauteed ground turkey with diced onions & fresh-minced garlic), plus some garlic bread. I didn’t go grocery shopping or even do a Walmart pick-up order this past weekend, so I’m making all of our dinners this week from stuff we already have on hand. IF I had gotten groceries, we would also have salad with this, but oh well…

Tonight the only sauce I had in the cabinet was vodka sauce (mix of red sauce with cream), which was honestly kind of weird with the turkey, but again, oh well…

Priss wanted butter only, no sauce. Cheese on the side. Very specific requests.

And then it was off to the bath tub!

Followed of course by cookies on the couch (these were the cookies from Aunt Meggie last Friday). Oh also, random note, we learned over the last few days, Emerson can count to 10! If you get her started by saying, “one, two,” she will repeat you, and then say, “three, five, six, seben, eight, nine-nine, ten!” (Yes, she skip four, can’t quite say a “v” yet, and doubles up on nine, but I’d say she’s got it!) We heard it do it for the first time Sunday night, but tonight I got her to do it again on video, by bribing her with the cookie 😂

Then at bedtime, she gets to her room before I do, and I find her doing this! I asked her, “what in the world are you doing?!” She said, “I climbing, Mommy!” Such a goofball!

We read a different doggie book tonight, which is another one of my old ones from when I was little. (Aunt Juanita was my Granddaddy’s sister, so she was my great aunt.) And Emerson loved the book, which was not a surprise, since she loves all doggie things.

She did really good when it was time to go to sleep, and we had no issues tonight. She asked for “luddabies,” and gave me tons of kisses. After laying her down, I finished washing all the dishes while Jeff worked on laundry.

In case you were curious, Jeff and I both ended up falling asleep about halfway through our “Fringe” episode, around 9:45pm last night. So we will finish that one tonight, and maybe go to bed early again.
