Sourdough & Baby Toes

When we walked into Emerson’s classroom this morning, we came to this station with lots of toys and musical instruments. One of her little friends came over and started handing her stuff, and before long, her tiny arms were full! He even tried to hand her one of the big xylaphone’s, so I had to tell him, “no thank you, she has enough, but thank you for sharing!” It was so sweet, and so funny!

And I just love these blonde curls.

On my lunch break, I helped my coworker make a few signs for her son’s 5th grade classroom. I made four (all different), but this was the cutest one. (But I literally just now realized, I think I should have done it like “D🍩nut.” Right? Ughhhh 🤦 Maybe the 5th graders won’t notice?!)

We had dinner with Grandmommie, Grammy and Uncle Keith tonight at Zaxby’s before church. Uncle Keith was nice enough to share a few bites of cole slaw with Emmie, and then he put pieces of her chicken in the plastic egg she brought inside, and she loved that!

Then she went over to sit with Grandmommie, and by the time we left, Emerson had eaten all but a few small pieces of her two chicken strips, plus some fries too of course! I was so impressed!

And then she just had to ride to church in Grammy’s Jeep!

We had about 20 minutes before choir started, so Emmie ran around outside for a while before heading in.

She had to stop to clean the mess off the bottom of her feet 🤣

After a quick sip of Mommy’s sweet tea to cool off, she was ready to go in!

Our music minister Eddie is on a trip to Israel right now (along with our pastor, his wife, my Aunt Suzanne and cousin Aaron, and others), so our music associate and pianist Stella led choir tonight. We had a small group (I think lots of folks were playing hooky knowing our director was out!), but it was a good rehearsal. We started out with four altos and two sopranos (one of whom is older and sings super quiet), so I decided to sing soprano tonight to help even things out, and I did pretty well! For those that can read music, you can see the soprano part gets pretty high at the bottom of this page, but on the next page, it goes up one note higher, and I actually hit the F at the top of the scale! (My highest comfortable note is usually a B in my chest voice, or D in my head voice, and rarely even need to go that high in most alto parts.)

My friend Jessica was in Emerson’s room in the nursery tonight (with my other friend Ashleigh), and she sent me these pictures of the kids at snack time!

I almost always (99.9% of the time) listen to my audio books through the Libby app on my phone, checked out from my local library. But they didn’t have this book (#6 in the series), so I decided to grab the CD’s. But holy moly it’s so slow! I usually speed up all the books (depending on the narrators natural pace) and listen on Libby at 1.25x or 1.5x. This lady I always listen at 1.5x, and not being able to speed up the CDs might drive me crazy before I finish the 8 hours. I’ve already requested that my library aquire the rest of the series through Libby, and I will definitely wait for those before I start the next book.

At home, Emmie needed a bedtime snack, so she had a pack of gummies, and a few sips of tea. Then she had another pack of gummies!

She went to sleep super easy tonight, and I am skipping any chores, both indoor and outdoor, in favor of rest/laziness. Time for “Fringe,” followed by some bedtime reading of my new library e-book. And by the way, this new book is already got me craving some of that homemade bread I made a month or so ago. So I think I’ll be making that again in the next few days. Maybe over the weekend.

Also – baby toes. ❤️
