After a very late night last night, the girls actually slept in a little bit today! Well, I’m not exactly sure when Addison woke up, but Emerson told me she didn’t wake up until 8am. And even though I had set alarms for 7 & 7:30, I didn’t actually wake up until like 9:10am. And it was dark and rainy and so cozy and so hard to actually crawl out of bed. So Emmie and I got dressed pretty quickly, and headed out to an indoor church yard sale together, and left Jeff and Addie at home since they didn’t wanna go.

While I was browsing, Emerson found the little bake sale in the corner, and sat down to eat a tiny key lime pie, loaded high with fresh whipped cream.

And here’s our tiny hall. Not that I needed any more puzzles, but these were good brands and good puzzles. And I got a book for my dad which I’ll save for Father’s Day. And Emmie wanted that little faux leather journal for a sketch book, even though it has someone else’s random initials on it 😉

Obviously we had to go through 7Brew for some caffeine. I told my brewista I wanted an oat milk latte with almond flavoring, and they created a special “secret menu” item called the Wedding Cake Blondie, which apparently used to be on the menu a long time ago but was removed. And it was delicious! They said I could ask for it by name next time and they’ll be able to make it again.

We also went a little out of our way to search for a LFL from the app that we’d never visited before. But there wasn’t anything good in this one. It’s at the very end of one of the little side roads off N Monroe that dead ends into Lake Jackson, and we just think there’s not enough traffic or visitors here for there to be good books.

We went back home for lunch and a few quick chores around the house. Plus I needed to shower and put all of Addison’s birthday presents into gift bags, and gather up all the party supplies. Then once everyone was dressed and ready, we went over to Grammy and Papa’s house. We spent a few hours putting up some simple decorations, doing some food prep, and getting things all set-up and ready for her fifth birthday party! Her birthday isn’t until Tuesday (she’ll turn 5 on 5/5!) but we celebrated with our whole, big, 20-person family together tonight.

Addison loves salad, so we had a salad theme dinner, with FIVE types of salad, for her FIFTH birthday! Pasta salad, fruit salad, chicken salad, strawberry jello pretzel salad, and a classic green salad. Plus sliders and chips and all the toppings you could need.

If you haven’t noticed so far, the theme of this year’s party was princesses. And lucky for us, Publix has a few specialty princess cake options, and she chose this super fun Ariel cake! She loves The Little Mermaid (which was also my favorite growing up), and the cake turned out so super cute!

And while the kids went wild playing back in the playroom, my sister gave me a hair cut! She’s done this for me for years (she worked in a salon for a short stint as a teenager), but I was way overdue and my hair was crazy long and getting to that unhealthy stage it was so long. So after she cut off like 8 inches of long straggly hair, I went to the bathroom to blow-dry it, and then she used her fancy curling wand and made it so pretty!!

As some of the family started heading out, I put my girls into the bathtub to get all cleaned up. They had fun playing for a bit, and then they snuggled up on the couch with a blankie and watched a movie until we had to head out too. But then of course both girls were exhausted from our exciting day, so they both fell asleep in the car. Emerson claims she was awake the whole ride home, but I’m not so sure, since I saw them both bath there looking completely out… But this little party girl was definitely asleep.

We had a great little princess party today with all of our family. Loved celebrating this beautiful girl who loves princesses, high heels, and all things fancy. Today was perfect!
