Pizza Princess

My beautiful little Emerson was wearing a new-to-her, hand-me-down dress this morning. I loved how flowy and girly it was. She put it on this morning and said, “I feel like a princess, Mommy!” But by the time, she got to school, she was being a puppy instead, and panting with her tongue hanging out 😆

She was spinning around, twirling her dress, when she saw one of her sweet little friends get out of her dad’s truck. The girls are so sweet together, and they walked inside together so easily!

So, our unit at work is only eight people. In July 2019, one of our people promoted out, then in December my counter-part got promoted, and in January, a third person transferred to another Bureau. So we were already super short-staffed, and then covid hit. And man, it was a rough, and super busy time for our unit, and me specifically, as I took on about double the amount of work. As of about a month ago, our unit is finally fully-staffed again, and even though we have three new people all still in training, we’re finally on the right track again!

So today, we all went out together for a unit lunch at La Fiesta, and it was so nice! We got to know the new folks a little more, and talk about non-work things together for an hour, and eat delicious food of course. I got shrimp tacos with “boom boom” sauce, and it was spicy and yummy. But we forgot to take a group photo 😏

They made a leaf collage on the letter of the week for art time at school today. And Emerson told me all about how the teachers took off the owl names on the tables, and are making punkin names instead for Halloween.

Since we didn’t go to Publix yesterday to get those few things we needed it, we still didn’t have the right ingredients for the meals I had planned. We did however have a pizza in the freezer, and that was perfectly fine with us!

Emerson need an entire piece of pizza for herself, plus a few bites off of one of Daddy’s pieces, and then the crust off of one of his pieces, and then the crust off of one of my pieces!

And yet at bedtime, she was still saying she needed another snack! I said, “How could you possibly need another snack, after all that pizza, and that little pack of sweet tarts you had? How can you possibly still be hungry?” And she said, “I don’t know Mommy, but I just is!”

So she grabbed her half eating bag of gardetto’s snacks we’ve kept in a ziplock, and proceeded to finish off the second half of the bag while I read a story about Rapunzel, which sounds more like “Re-punzel” when she says it.

I spent about 15 minutes washing up some of the dishes that have collected from lunches and things over the last few days, and got the kitchen cleaned up. Jeff is working with one of his on the side IT clients in the front room tonight, so that means I get to just snuggle up on the couch and watch an episode (or two) of “When calls the Heart.” Night friends!
