Dinosaur Sneakers

Grandmommie gave Emmie these red dinosaur sneakers for her birthday. They were a little too big, but after a few months, they fit her now, and she’s been dying to wear them ever since we tried them on last weekend. She doesn’t have much red clothing to match, so she was a little bit patriotic and a little bit dino today. And she was so excited! Oh, and she topped off the outfit with a couple of stickers on her legs 😉

I had to get some routine bloodwork done on my lunch break today. I also found this nice shady spot to park the car and spend the rest of my lunch break enjoying some fresh air and eating a delicious chicken sandwich I got from Lindy’s.

Emerson has been learning about the five senses at school this week, and has been telling me all about it. She told me all five of them in the car this morning, and that they were doing projects about all of them. Then today we got this picture of her learning about touch, making little stamped handprints!

After work, we got home and got busy right away getting all of our camping gear and equipment out of the shed, and piled up in the carport. After getting out most of what we needed, and putting other stuff back in, we heated up a hodge-podge of leftovers and cheese noodles for us all to share…

Jeff had also grabbed some of those air conditioner filters from the shed, and changed the one in the hallway return. But the fan was on and it sucked up the plastic wrapper into it. Soooo then Jeff had to go crawling around under the house to dig the plastic out of the air return, so it wouldn’t mess things up… He got super dirty and muddy, but he got it out!

While I packed up Emmie’s clothes and shoes in her backpack, she decided she should pack up some snacks. So she grabbed her little lunchbox, and jammed that bad boy full of things from the pantry!

While Jeff got cleaned up from his under-the-house-adventures, Emmie and I did the bedtime routine together – snacks and books and lullabies and snuggles.

She was super sweet as usual at bedtime, and Daddy got showered & dressed just in time to come give her loves after lullabies.

We’ve still got quite a bit of stuff to inventory and pack and gather tonight before bedtime, but as long as we get the majority done tonight, we can finish up the rest of it tomorrow. We’re both off at noon tomorrow, and we’ll come home to pack up all the stuff, and then pick up Emmie after her naptime. We’ll hit the road mid-afternoon, and head over to Topsail Hill Preserve State Park (near Destin), to go camping for the first time in four years, and for the first time with Emerson! It’ll be quite an adventure, but I’m sure it’ll be fun!

We probably won’t have cell service at the campsite, so maybe I’ll write a half-day post on the car ride over, and then take a couple days off, and write a full weekend-recap on Sunday evening. We’re looking forward to a fun little family getaway, with time to relax and unplug and just take it easy!
