Pillows, Puzzles & Pedicures

We had cereal for Saturday morning breakfast today. Then I went to the nail salon for a pedicure, and Jeff and the girls and PopPop went to Home Depot for some project supplies.

I had a great massage, got lots of reading done, and loved the chair massage so much today.

After my pedicure, I went by 7Brew for a coffee, and then Walmart to pick up our weekly grocery order. When I got home, the girls helped me put the groceries away, and then I scrounged up some random things for lunch for the girls and I. Jeff and his dad were busy replacing the toilet in our front bathroom, because it recently had some sort of problem (I don’t really know what), so they got a new one this morning and just replaced it!

I had the girls work with me to tidy up the living room a little bit, and then Addie “helped” me on my puzzle for a few minutes. (This colorful crystals & geodes puzzle was chosen by Addison at the puzzle swap back in March, and it’s actually going easier than I thought, so far…) Nana called me around this time (she had been at a shower this morning), and came over with Chick-fil-A for her and the guys for their lunch. Plus a box of nuggets for the girls to share as their second lunch.

Emerson and I were both in need of new pillows (actually, we were way overdue, like since our girls camping trip way back in November and they got wet and soggy and we threw them away and we’ve just been using crappy extra ones we had around the house since then), so Nana headed over to Walmart with us for a little bit. Nana actually let Addison pick out her birthday present, and we got her some new shoes too. Plus some slippers Emmie picked out for herself, and I got a candle for my stash 😉

After Walmart, Nana went to a birthday party, and the girls and I took some little girl clothes to Belk to return that Grammy had gotten a couple weeks back that didn’t work. Jeff had driven his dad back to their house in Havana and helped out with a project on his truck over there, so the girls and I went on an adventure finding Little Free Library’s around town. We dropped off books at all the ones we stopped at, but only picked up books from a couple of them.

The girls and I went on home for me to have some quiet rest time, and the girls to play “mom’s & honey’s” which is what they call it when they pretend Emerson is the mom and Addison is her daughter (her little honey), and do all sorts of little games together. Jeff brought pizza home from Little Caesar’s on his way back to town from Havana, and after dinner, the girls both hopped in the shower. Pennie was super dirty too, so Jeff and I gave her a shower tonight as well. After getting Pennie cleaned and dried off, I noticed out the windows the pinkish tint in the backyard, so I walked outside to check out the skies, knowing it was gonna be gorgeous!

We’re back on the “get Addie to sleep in her own bed train” again, after things getting out of whack with trips to Moldova and Disney. She’s been sleeping in our queen bed right in between us, and she’s just getting too big for that! She also turns five in a little over a week, so it’s like wayyy past time we finally get this habit set in stone… It took literally an hour of me sitting on the hardwood floor next to her, talking her through it, saying prayers, listening to lullabies, and waiting for her to calm down and stop crying. But hey, we did it, and she’s been in her bed for about an hour now since I tip-toed out, praying the wood floors wouldn’t squeak too loudly…

So now we’re praying she stays there as long as possible, at least through most of the night, and that would at least be a step in the right direction. And we’ll keep working on it over the next few weeks, until hopefully we can make this a normal thing.
