Picnic with Parents

Emerson was finally ready to go to school for the first time this week, on Friday! And Addison picked her coat today like it was 30 degrees, instead of 60 degrees! But still with her tiny little leggies poking out 😆

For lunch today, Jeff picked me up from the office, then we placed a Jimmy John’s mobile order for pickup, and headed back up to NFC. The VPK classes were having a special “picnic with parents on the playground.” So all the parents were all spread out in the grass next to the playground, and when the classes were brought outside all the kids scattered and went running to find their parents and it was so cute seeing my little blondie running towards us yelling, “MAMA! MAMA!”

They had prepared special little projects for us, and her answers are so cute. Apparently she said Mom is “12, I guess” years old. And I also make the best fruit! 🙂

My mom is 12, I guess years old.
My mom’s favorite color is blue & green.
She likes to make dinner for us.
My mom’s favorite food is soup.
My mom makes the best fruit.
Together, we really like to play a lot.
I love when my mom makes me breakfast.
My mom always laughs when we make funny faces.
I love my mom because she is the best.

She actually got Daddy’s age right, but those favorite foods she listed for him (broccoli & soup), are actually some of his very least favorites. All the rest of her answers for Daddy are funny in some way too, and I just loved this.

My dad’s name is Jeff.
He is 44 years old.
He is so smart because he knows all about our country.
He looks handsome when he wears all kinds of colorful shirts.
When I am at school he drops me off in the office.
He is really good at writing my name.
His favorite thing to eat is soup & broccoli.
If I could buy him anything, I would buy him some tools for his stinky car.
I love him more than ice cream!

And this cute little poem was so sweet, and of course made me tear up by the time I read the final line. We loved having our little picnic with our little cutie, and we all enjoyed the beautiful day in the perfect weather! And also, how did I only just now realize that those little flower petals are her tiny fingerprints!? So precious!!

I went outside at 5pm to sit under this giant magnolia tree, to wait for Jeff to come back and pick me up. And although I found a tiny green spider crawling on my arm while sitting there, it was still just so nice outside.

We made a little trip to the Asian grocery store near our house on the way home tonight, looking specifically for ponzu sauce and toasted sesame seeds, for a new recipe I’m going to make on Sunday night. They were out of the sauce, but we found plenty of other interesting things to try out! Like two different kinds of canned coffees for me, some snacks for the girls, and Jeff found a few different varieties of ramen to try too.

For dinner tonight, we had the rest of the meatball marinara bake I made last night, just microwaved and ready to go. And it was actually even better tonight than last night. I think the cheese melted and mixed together better in the microwave than the oven. Then we cleaned out the car of all the trash that needed to be thrown away, and all the junk that needed to be brought inside. Then we went out to the car wash to get allllll the pollen washed off, and vaccum out the inside.

We started on bedtime once we got home since it was almost 8:30 by that point. And since I had already sorted out my puzzle last night, it was easy to get started and work on it for a few minutes tonight.

And my sweet little Addie pie wanted to help me again tonight too, so I let her put in the last three pieces of the bottom edge corner.

We did our usual bedtime routine, and Emmie fell asleep very quickly and easily for me. Jeff was working on getting Addie down, when I started working on my blog. But I very quickly realized my website was down for some reason, so I had to wait for him to be able to fix something-or-other. So I’m finally finishing up later than usual, and I’m definitely tired by now, and ready to just lay down on the couch for the night!
