Permission to Rest

FRIDAY
The girls were both sporting their Grizzly Red for spirit Friday, ready to close out the second week of school.

And I absolutely love this selfie they took of just the two of them! I think it’s the first one they’ve taken like this, and it just makes me envision the future, when Addie is 13 and Emmie is 17, and they’re taking pictures together before school as teenagers.

After work and school, I picked them up and just had to run back by TJ Maxx to look for Hobbry puzzles again, and lucked out finding a few of the newest fall-themed releases! And Emmie “convinced” me to get all three 🙂

Loved seeing both of them reading in the car on the way home.

Friday night pizza and Harry Potter on the couch was just what we needed, especially when I started not feeling so great by this time…

We finished the movie, and I also finished this puzzle. It was a good one and I enjoyed doing it, but it’s also a good one to go back to the swap with the next time.

I ended up falling asleep in Emerson’s bed while doing lullabies with her, and then I moved to the couch temporarily and fell asleep there too, and didn’t write Friday’s blog post. Jeff woke me up and put me to be early, and I had a rough night’s sleep, not feeling well like a cold was coming on, and also having a lot of pain in my shoulder/neck. I actually went to TOC about that Friday morning, had x-rays and they found nothing, but they did give me a steroid pack and muscle relaxers, and I might start some PT… but anyways, I needed an early night of sleep for a change.

SATURDAY

Although I didn’t sleep well through the night (hard to get comfortable when the side I typically sleep on is painful), so I moved to Emmie’s bed around 7am, and propped myself up in the corner where I fell asleep last night, and got another couple hours of sleep before I finally got up for the day around 9am. Luckily, we didn’t have any plans for the day, or anywhere to be, so I decided to just give myself permission to rest. So Jeff picked up Chick-fil-A for breakfast, and I worked on a puzzle while he folded clean laundry.

The girls were just being so sweet and cute and playing together all morning, putting on different outfits and costumes and performing shows and all sorts of things. These particular sets of outfits reminded me of the nursing outfits they wear on the early seasons of “Call the Midwife,” and so they looked like the cutest little nurses.

This afternoon, Jeff took the girls out of the house for a while, and I stayed home on my self-imposed rest day. First, they went on a house call to help with some computer work for an old family friend. Then they ran some errands to Walmart, Lowe’s (where they found even bigger dumplings this time, for only $3!), and Costco (where they ate a late lunch at the Costco Cafe again).

Jeff and the girls also picked up our Walmart grocery order, and then got Culver’s for dinner. I didn’t have to cook or even assemble anything all day for our meals, and I was very grateful for that. Emmie and I settled down in her bed to read together before bedtime.

It’s Jeff’s turn to go to bed early tonight, so I’m watching Virgin River and gonna re-paint my fingernails, before I take my last two steroid pills before bedtime.
