Our First Covid-Positive

At-home photos this morning…

I went back to working at home again today, but before long, Emerson had a fever, and I took her to get another covid test… I also got tested when I took her back (just to be on the safe side), and although mine was negative again, hers came back positive. Womp, womp, womp… 🙁

After almost two full years, countless tests between our family of now four, both Jeff and I being vaccinated, masks a lot of the time… our poor girl finally picked it up from all her friends at school. There have actually been six cases in her class alone this week, including her.

So she spent most of the day in this blanket-table-fort Jeff and I threw together for her in the dining room, watching her Kindle and playing tea party with her little stuffy friends.

And since Emerson tested positive, we picked up Addison from school early too. She played a little bit, and then took a nice long nap for most of the afternoon.

Emerson was in dire need of some fresh air, so while I kept working this afternoon, she set up a little picnic for herself in the backyard, and just hung out out here for the longest time, just chilling and talking and gathering tiny flower-weeds.

I actually ended up having to work late, until 5:30, but my brain was fried and the kitchen was actually a mess, so we just threw a frozen cheese pizza in the oven, and called it good for the night…

I set up Addie’s little seat on the coffee table, and she ate some baby food there, while we ate our pizza.

Since we promised Emerson some ice cream for going to bed so good last night, but we couldn’t take her to Walmart to pick out exactly what she wanted, Jeff went through the DQ drive-thru after dinner tonight, and got us all mini Blizzards.

Addison ate another bottle while Jeff was gone, and she fell asleep for me super easily. I was able to lay her down in her bed almost right away, and she’s been sleeping soundly since about 7:30. Emerson’s bedtime went ok, but she still managed to stall for about 30 minutes with various tactics and such…

I washed up a bunch of dishes & bottles while the pizza was baking. Then after we ate I wiped everything down and did some antibacterial cleaning spray. We’ve been going a little crazy with the Lysol spray around the house today, and all of us are using germ-x and washing hands a LOT. We remind Emerson all the time to cough into her sleeve, and most importantly to stay far away from Addison. It’ll be an absolute miracle if none of the rest of us get it, but that’s what we’re praying for.

I can’t say I’m surprised one of us finally got it (especially not after all the notices we’ve gotten about Emmie’s classmates at school this week), but man I’m definitely not thrilled with it. The school also told us that both girls have to stay out of school for 10 days, so we have a loooong 10 days ahead of us. Well, today was day 1, so 9 more to go. Give me all the tips & tricks for entertaining littles in quarantine for over a week!
