Onion Pakora

This morning was the BGMC Fun Run at church, even though it was soggy and raining. They made the most of it, and were still able to do their run during a break in the rain. They even had Pencil Pal as a special guest visitor today.

Emerson requested we go back to Prime Time for lunch today, so after we took the girls home to change out of their soggy clothes, we went back for the first time in a few months. And we we were all super hungry today, and the food was super delicious and just hit the spot perfectly. We also ordered two new things today (along with our butter chicken and paneer butter masala), the mango lassi (a sweet, yogurty drink) and the onion pakora, which was like the Indian version of onion rings, but sooo much better and lighter and my new favorite thing.

We picked up a grocery order this afternoon, and then had a nice long, gray drear afternoon on the couch at home for movie rest time, while it continued raining outside. And of course I fell asleep on the couch while the girls watched a movie. Once we finally all got up and moving again, I put Jeff and the girls on the task of tidying up the living room, while I tidied the kitchen, cooked dinner, and washed dishes while this simmered on the stove.

Turns out, no one really liked this though, not even me so much… for starters, I think I actually needed about a half cup more water, and maybe 5-10 more minutes simmering, because some of the rice and beans still felt a little “al dente.” It was too spicy for the girls, and I just wasn’t all that into it. Jeff and I still ate ours, but the girls ended up eating PB sandwiches instead, which was fine by me really.

We had some quiet activity time after dinner, me working on the puzzle, Addie doing a little sticker page, and Emmie doing her own big girl sticker-by-numbers art, which came out super pretty.

The girls got ready for bed, and then snuggled up to Pennie on the couch to watch their little bedtime show together.

We actually got the girls to bed perfectly on time tonight, so it feels nice to be done with everything at such an early time tonight. I’ve been watching a little short 3-episode mini series of a “Little Women” adaptation Netflix did way back in 2017, that I didn’t even know existed. I love “Little Women,” and this is a good version of it! I actually need to go wash up a few more dishes that we used for tonight’s dinner, and then I’ll try to fit in a few more pieces of my puzzle, but it’s a hard one!
