13th Anniversary

We had a bit of a rough start to our day today with two easily-upset and still very sleepy girlies. But by the time we were about to leave, Emmie had perked up, and Addie was getting there… Emmie was smiley, but although Addie came over for sister pics, she refused to actually smile 😄

But both girls were okay by the time Jeff dropped them off at school, ready for another day and another week.

And today was mine and Jeff’s 13th wedding anniversary! He picked me up for a lunch date at one of our favorite restaurant’s, Harry’s. They’re always sending us coupons in the mail, so we clipped two of them this morning, and paid separately for ultimate savings 😂 I love the shrimp tacos I had, but Jeff’s shrimp & scallop Orleans was the winner today. But it was a nice lunch date together on a dreary, rainy Monday. And maybe sometime in the future we’ll plan an actual date night out, when we have a little more free time…

And even though it was gray and cloudy, it was somehow so bright outside I couldn’t actually open my eyes to take a selfie! So I just gave up and took it like this 🙂

I made a slightly fancier than usual dinner tonight for our anniversary, to celebrate as a little family. Nana gave me this yummy seasoning mix the other night that she got in Amish county on their most recent trip, so I knew I wanted to make something tonight using that. I put it on thin cut pork chops, sauteed those for a few minutes, then removed them to a plate. Then I sauteed sliced onions in butter and made a cream sauce to simmer the chops in. Baked some crescent rolls, diced up a head of romaine for Caesar salad (forgot that I didn’t have croutons or parmesan 😑), and then served the cream sauce over the pork and potatoes. And it was really flavorful and very delicious!

We kind of all helped clear the table and cleaned up, and then the girls watched a little bit of tv before bedtime. But I wanted them to sleep earlier than usual tonight, and luckily it all worked out, as they were asleep in no time, both laying the same way with their heads turned and their arms flung out.

I will not be doing any further cleaning or dish-washing this evening, and might even try to get to bed a little bit early myself tonight.
