The girls got up and moving pretty good this morning, and we got them dressed and ready easily. I helped get them into Jeff’s car and sent them on their way, and then loaded up all my stuff in my car…
But right before I was about to drive away, our office sent out a text saying there was extra police and firefighter services in the downtown area (which we later found out was because of an underground electrical fire, or “explosion” maybe), and that we should “delay our arrival.” Apparently there were tons of power outages and traffic lights were out and detours everywhere. So I went back inside my house (where I discovered I had actually forgotten my lunch box), and just waited a bit. And when I was still waiting and my stomach started growling, I made myself a very delicious egg sandwich.

I checked in with my employees, and my boss, and killed some more time by listening to my audio book and working on my puzzle. Eventually, it seemed that most of the power had been restored and the traffic lights were back on, so I decided to make my way downtown to work. It all worked out very easily for me, and I was there around 11am with virtually no traffic or issues.

I actually finished part 1 of the graphic audio version of A Court of Silver Flames, and immediately started on part 2, since I hit the Libby jackpot last week and timed my holds & suspended holds perfectly right, and got both parts within days of each other, right before the next book comes out at the end of the month! It literally could not have lined up any better, which is a miracle, honestly.

After working the rest of the day like usual, I picked up the girls for our usual Tuesday chaotic routine. For the past few weeks, I’ve been making PB(noJ) sammies at my desk to bring to them, but they were tired of that. Then when Nana sent us home with leftover chicken and rice Sunday night, I immediately knew that would be perfect for tonight’s dinner! So I heated it up right before leaving the office, and it was still steaming hot from my lunchbox by the time we made it to the gym. We sat in the car and they shared a container in the backseat together, before we headed inside in the rain for classes.

I finished my current Kindle book tonight while Emerson was working on the balance beam.

She requested cheese bites from Cookout again for a post-gym snack, and of course I had to get them for her. We watched a few minutes of The Lizzie McGuire Movie together when we got home, and once she had calmed down a little bit, she was super tired and ready to head off to bed.
The start of the day felt so weird, but I actually loved my extra time at home all by myself! And now I’m crying over the ending of the “Little Women” series I’ve been watching, even though I knew exactly what was coming… This little 3-episode series is just so good, and I can’t believe I didn’t even know it existed before now, and now it’s “leaving” Netflix soon. So if you like that sort of thing, I definitely recommend it, before it’s not there anymore!
