The girls and I were out and about all over town this morning. We started the morning at the downtown farmer’s market, waiting in line for the Chubby Rice pop-up onigiri stand.
We waited in a long line, but luckily it only took about 20 minutes. I’ve wanted to try onigiri for years, after seeing videos of some of my favorite vloggers eating them all over Japan. But I’ve never been able to find it. Then this summer, Chubby Rice was started by a Japanese-American girl here in town, and I’ve been following her journey for months. And today, I finally made it to the downtown market! We got the last of the tuna mayo, plus a chicken karaage. The three of us shared them, and we absolutely loved them!! Unfortunately, she was already sold out of the beef bulgogi and the spam, but I really wanna try those soon, if I’m lucky enough to get them next time!

It was like a 100 degrees already at 9:30am, and we were dripping sweat after waiting in line and then perusing the market. So we also had to get a giant mango agua fresca to share, and that was ice cold and refreshing and delicious.

And Emmie spotted this sourdough chocolate croissant she just couldn’t live without. The texture was not what we expected of a croissant, since it was much thicker and more like bread rather than a typical light, soft croissant. But the flavor was good. I held it and let them each take turns getting a bite, because it was melty and messy, but they both loved it.

Next up, we hit up a thrift store way out on Mahan I had been wanting to check out, but didn’t grab any pics there. After that, we dropped off a book at a work-friends house, for her to borrow while recovering from surgery. And since we were in a part of town we’re not usually in, we stopped by some of our least-visited LFL’s.

And then we went to the new Fazoli’s for the first time! I think Emerson was a little skeptical about it at first, and didn’t even know what to order. But I got spaghetti with meat sauce for Addie, and fettucini alfredo for Emmie, plus chicken parmigiana for myself. And they both loved their pasta, and obviously we were all obsessed with the bread sticks.

Addison in particular was just really going after that pasketti, getting sauce allll over her face and hands, and I just let her go for it! Sometimes it’s so hard to get her to eat, that when she actually does, I don’t care how she goes about it, just that she eats!

And then she walked herself to the other side of the table when Emmie was done, and started eating her big sister’s pasta as well! I also shared a few bites of my chicken with both of them, and I actually only ate about half of my meal, it was so huge! So we brought home plenty of leftovers for Jeff to eat for his lunch, since we had left him at home sleeping off a migraine all morning.

We ended up at one more thrift store after lunch, and then I finally got my first caffeine of the day, with a stop at The Frother’s Daughter. I hadn’t been here in ages, so it was nice to go back and get a delicious coffee! Emerson begged me for a coffee for herself as well, so I gave in and ordered her a decaf latte, and the three of us sat out front for a few minutes before hopping back in the car to head home.

This was around 1pm, and then that was the last photo I took today! We went home to have a little rest, and then do some chores, like laundry, dishes, and living-room clean-up, plus we also picked up groceries. Then late this afternoon we went over to Nana & PopPop’s house for dinner. We cooked a simple supper, flipped through some magazines, and then just chilled for a bit, and I didn’t even take any pictures, of than some of the recipes in the magazines to save for later. The girls are both sleeping soundly now though, and I’m gonna paint my fingernails real quick before bedtime.
