Morning Swim

The girls and I had ourselves a little girls day together. I was able to sleep in until 8:30am, which was glorious. Then I got cereal for the girls, and made avocado toast for myself. We got our swim suits on, and then headed out to swim! Grammy and Papa are out of town, but we wanted to spend some time with Grandmommie. So we swam for a while, until the weather got bad, then we went in for lunch and playtime.

Grandmommie played “vets” with the girls in the playroom in the back, and that left me some time to sit under the skylights and read my book for about 30 minutes.

We decided to get everything all packed up and loaded up before the weather got really bad again, because there was another round of thunderstorms about to roll in. We got lucky and hit up this beautiful Little Free Library we had never visited before, before the storms started.

It started raining as we were taking the picture of the girls with their books, and 2 minutes later at the stop light, it was a downpour. I actually had to drive like 30 mph all the way down Thomasville Road, because it was raining so heavily and it was so gray and hard to see.

And of course Baby Sister fell asleep on the way home, even though she “wasn’t tired.”

I made us all have quiet, feet-off-the-floor time for 30 minutes when we got home, which was only partially successful. But by the time the 30 minutes was up, the girls ran off to play together, and I fell asleep on the couch, since it was so dark and cozy and rainy. Jeff brought home pizza for our dinner, and we all spent some time tidying up the living room.

Then our slightly big project of the evening was cleaning, reorganizing, and rearranging stuff in the dining room, to make room for a massive bookshelf I bought on Facebook Marketplace, for only $50. I went ahead and paid her tonight to hold it for us, and Jeff and a friend from church will go out and pick it up tomorrow afternoon. It’s going to provide a lot of much-needed shelf-space for my ever-growing collection, and I’m already itching to get it all set up and filled!
