Crab Cakes

We spent all morning, and the early afternoon, just doing chores around the house. Including, putting together this new shoe cabinet we got from our IKEA trip a few weeks back. Really, Jeff did all the work, and I just sat in the floor handing him pieces when he needed them… And little Addie-in-a-unicorn outfit watched for a while too.

And it fits perfectly right by our carport door entrance, with plenty of space inside for lots of shoes.

One of our other projects for this morning was moving around bookshelves and un-shelved books in our dining/reading room. We switched the brown heart shelf and the white shelf that used to be in this corner (it was there for almost 10 years and it was very dusty in that corner behind it), and getting everything cleaned up and prepped.

Meanwhile, Jeff, his dad, and our friend Craig went out to the farrr side of Killearn to pick up this absolutely humongous bookshelf I bought off Facebook Marketplace. It is 6′ wide, 7′ tall, and 1′ deep, and solid oak. She is heavy. But she’s gorgeous! And it was only $50!! It was a beast to get into the house, but they did a great job. Jeff had already grabbed drinks for the two of them at 7Brew, but we owe Craig more than just that for all his help today! Also, huge shout-out to Jeff’s dad too, for not only helping out with his truck, but helping with some of the heavy-lifting too!

Jeff got one wall anchor screwed into the top (there was already one up there), but he wants one or tow more since it’s so huge, and we can’t risk this falling over. So we gotta get some more of those tomorrow, before we can get all the shelves put back in, and then start filling it up. But I’m just itching to start putting on my books and little knick-knacks, and making it so cute! (Just for reference for how huge it is, Craig is 6’1″, and he’s no where near as tall as the shelf.)

For dinner tonight, we went out for a nice dinner with Jeff’s parents at Harry’s, to celebrate Father’s Day for Jeff and Dave. The girls were both so beautiful in their nice dresses, Emmie with her Polly Pocket shell, and Addie with her TJ’s tote filled with a coloring book and a tin of crayons.

We ordered a side salad to go with Addie’s kids meal mahi fingers, and they brought her this huge plate of salad!

I got a diet coke and crab cakes with broccoli (and their broccoli is honestly so good), but that red pepper aioli on the side was truly delish! If I order this again, I’m gonna ask for more of that stuff.

It was nice to go out for a fancier-than-usual meal together, and we all left full and happy. Emerson specifically ate so much she gave herself a little tummy ache, but she said it was worth it for the delicious food. We got the girls started on the bedtime routine as soon as we got home, because they were totally exhausted and it was pretty late…
