Grammy gave Emerson this outfit yesterday as a late birthday present, and she instantly fell in love with it. (And so did I!) This morning, she picked it out for herself, and even got herself dressed. Then she told me how to do her hair, and goodness gracious she’s too big, and so stinking adorable!
Jeff said she looked like a mini Miss Honey, from “Matilda,” and I have to agree. Funnily enough, he also said she looked like Kathleen Kelly from “You’ve Got Mail” wearing a dress, cardigan, and flats from a few years ago. Apparently, we like to dress her as some of our favorite female characters from ’90’s movies 🙂
Then I took Addison to daycare (look at her funny little hair floof, left over from her pony tail yesterday!)…
And Jeff took Emerson to Generations Church (where Uncle Bo is the children’s pastor) for her first time participating in Mega Sports Camp! (It’s kinda like their version of VBS, and the kids each get to pick a sport to learn for the week. Emerson chose cheerleading, and I know she’s gonna have such a great week!
After camp was over, Jeff picked her up and took her on to school, so she could have lunch and nap there, and spend the afternoon with her school friends.
Although Addie was doing mostly good at school, she had some drainage in one ear…
So I ended up having to pick up Addison early, to take her in to get her ears checked. Turns out, little one has an ear infection (even with her tubes), but we got the antibiotic drops, so hopefully we can get that cleared up really quickly.
We went back to pick up Emmie from school, and Addie was so grumpy and tired, that once we got home, I took Emmie inside to play on her Kindle, and then I went back to sit in the car and let Addie just sleep in her seat. (I may have also fallen asleep sitting in my seat as well…) We came inside after about 45 minutes, and then I made chicken (with sautéed onions), rice & broccoli bowls, and the girls and I ate while Jeff mowed the front lawn.
We had lots of play time after dinner, and Emmie showed off some of the things she learned at Mega Sports Camp.
Addie just stopped still for an entire minute, just watching the pouring rain.
Emerson and I had a little chat last week about chapter books, and we talked about starting to read Matilda. We forgot to start last week, but on the day she was dressed like Miss Honey, tonight was the perfect night to read the first chapter aloud before her bedtime. She did a really great job listening as I read, and I think she’s going to love hearing this story, because we already know she loves the movie. (Oh, and you can see our pretty new sheets here now!)
It took us a long while to get Emmie really settled down and ready for bed (after lots of stalling and hoopla), but Addie did really great and was asleep with just a few minutes of Jeff rocking her.
I’m going to go put my ear buds in, and listen to my audio book, while I wash up a sink full of dishes. I’m not excited about the dishes, but I’m at a really good spot in my current audio book, and definitely excited to listen to more of that.
