Making Slime at the Library

You guys – we slept until 9am today!!! Can’t even remember the last time I slept that late. Emerson said she woke up around 7, and played on her Kindle, but Addie was still asleep when we woke up, and just started stirring shortly after. Then Emerson helped me make some scrambled eggs for sandwiches for her, Addie and Jeff, and I made egg-in-the-hole for myself.

Look how beautiful my girls are!

With all the reading we have to do every night for 1st grade, we needed to stock up on lots of new books. And I had a book on hold to pick up too. So we went to our favorite library branch at Lake Jackson, and were surprised to find today was their 5th Annual Cosmic Con, so there were fun activities and games and stuff, all for free of course. We thought it was be a quick trip, but we ended up staying quite a while, because the girls were having so much fun, and so were we. (And it was free, and free a/c!)

Emerson’s favorite activity was making slime, and then we sat and played with it for a long time too.

Addison’s favorite station was just some coloring pages, and her little fingers were covered in marker after she finished.

We did in fact take some time to check out actual books too 🙂

After we finally made it out of the library, we meandered down to the other end of the shopping center, to have lunch at The County Kitchen. We’d never been there before, but we all really liked it. Jeff and the girls were watching a movie while we waited for our food, and the three of them were so sweet together. Look at Addie holding onto Jeff’s finger – so sweet.

After our late lunch, we headed back home. It was like 2:30 by the time we got the girls down for their naps, and they slept quite a while. While they napped, Jeff went to help a friend hang up a giant tv in their new house, and I tried to clean up, and then air up and fill up our little backyard inflatable pool. It was about 5pm by the time the girls woke up and and we got in the pool, but we played for a little over an hour, and had a great time.

It was actually starting to feel a little chilly in the cold water in the shade (I know that sounds crazy), so the girls immediately got into a warm bath, and then into their jammies before dinner. Jeff and I ate sandwiches, and the girls ate their leftover breakfast food from lunch today, while we watched a movie.

We unpacked all of the library books we checked out today, and both of us are excited to read through this stack over the next few weeks.

The girls are both sleeping soundly now, and I need to go paint both my fingernails and toenails before bedtime.
