I literally have no idea how the whole school year is over already! I know most other parents feel this way at this time of year. And for good reason! It goes back that quote that says, “The days are long but the years are short.” Because this morning, these girls looked way older than the first day of school back in August.

We all went together today for a family drop-off for the last day of school. We stopped at the gas station first to grab breakfast and Lunchables to put in their lunch boxes, and then we all went to NFC. I actually got really emotional when we left there for the last time today, and I cried way more than I was expecting to! I’ve said this before, but it has really been a great year with Addie there at my old school, with sweet friends and an amazing teacher, plus the triplets and some of our best church friends too. We’ll miss being there next year!

And for a look back in time, here’s the girls on their first day of school last August! Well, they started on different days, so THIS is Addie’s first day at NFC, and THIS is Emmie’s first day of 3rd grade.

I took Emerson to school today too, and then stopped at a LFL on my way to work. I actually met the owner/steward while I was there, who walked up and gave me this little bundle of mini flags, in honor of Memorial Day this weekend. She has had a bucket on the ground too and a note for people to grab some, so that was so neat!

Jeff got off work early today so he could pick up both girls early, since their aftercare was both closed by 3pm. Addie was napping when they got to NFC, so Emmie sat down to read their yearbook like a little pre-teen girly.

And as soon as Addie got up to Jeff, she told him her ear was hurting really bad. So he made a quick call to the pediatrician, for a last-minute walk-in appointment. And turns out, the poor nugget does in fact have a terrible ear infection in her right ear. The doctor said it looked awful, and she was surprised today was the first day Addie had told us about it. So, we got her prescription at Publix tonight.

They needed a little afternoon snack apparently, so they split a couple of trays at Cookout.

Then they picked me up from work at 5pm (Jeff’s car had been acting up when he got off work, so he left it in my office garage, and took my car instead), and we went to Target. We found a birthday gift for a party for Addie’s friend tomorrow, and got our annual blow-up pool for the summer. We decided to eat before we headed home, and hit up Isabella’s on Gaines Street for some pizza. We’ve never been here before since it’s usually crawling with college students, but we were literally the only ones there tonight. And it was good!

Poor little Addie girl was in a lot of pain tonight from her ear, and she didn’t wanna take her meds. I worked with her on it though, and we got it down, along with some Tylenol for the pain. Hopefully she gets some decent sleep tonight, since that’s usually iffy when she has an infection like this.
Heading off to do some chores now, since tomorrow will be super busy without much free time to do much around the house…
