Kinder & 4th Orientation

Today was the day for orientation for the new school year, but this time for both girlies! Emerson will be going into 4th grade, and Addison gets to start kindergarten at Gilchrist this year too!

We were very happy to learn that Addison will have the same teacher for kindergarten that Emerson had, and the teacher of course remembers our family and was glad to have Addie too! She is super sweet and has been doing this for SO long, and loves these littlest ones. It feels crazy that my baby girl has made it to kinder already, but I’m so very excited for this new chapter for her, and for her to be here at the same school with her big sister!

We don’t really know anything about Emerson’s teacher, but she’s got a few of her friends in her class, and she’s very excited about a new year! And you know what it’s hard to wrap my brain around, that SHE is part of the “older kids” now. It’s hard to remember her being just as tiny as Addie is now when Emmie started kinder four years ago, but she truly was! She’s definitely in that in-between phase, where sometimes she still seems like a little girl, and sometimes she’s clearly on her way to being a pre-teen. But I want to soak up all the time I can with her in her final years of elementary school, before she really does turn into a pre-teen and become too cool for me 🤣

I had to stop by this coffee truck to try the vanilla horchata latte (which was yummy, but expensive), and Nana got the girls some Kona Ice. (The girls are spending today & tomorrow with her, before school starts Wednesday, so she met me up at the school in time for orientation today.)

I went back to work afterwards, and the girls went back to Nana’s house. Then Jeff and I drove up to Havana after work, where we had hamburgers and corn on the cob for dinner.

These two are obsessed with corn on the cob, and both ate multiple cobs. Addie ate two, and Jeff ate at least three, I don’t even know how many actually.

After dinner, Nana and I braved the (still very oppressive) evening heat and humidity, for the girls to run up and down this hill over and over, and play with bubbles, and generally just run out the last of their energy for the day…

And we saw this beautiful sky and sunset on our way back down to Tally.

When we got home, both girls had a package to open – Addie’s was a new book about sleeping in her big girl bed (from Grandmommie), and Emmie’s was a new med-pen for her warts (from the Wellpack pharmacy). So, Emmie’s wasn’t quite as exciting, but maybe it will finally clear up the warts on the back of her hand, since they were frozen back in May but it didn’t actually get rid of them. But Addie was excited about her new book, and promised to try to sleep in her bed again tonight. She still hasn’t made it a full night yet, but we’ve gotten her to at least start in her own bed every night for about a week, and she’s sleeping there about half the night. Still working on it though!

And Emerson just wanted her entire body to be completely covered up with stuffies tonight in order to fall asleep.

Need to go re-paint my nails for the first time in a week or so. If you know me, you know my nails are almost never bare, so it’s weird to have had them plain and natural for so long.
