Greenhouse

The girls had one more day to spend hanging out with Nana again today. And both looking so cute and sporty!

Since Jeff met up with Nana this morning to pass off the girls at our Lake Jackson library, he was right next door to 7Brew, so he brought me a nice large delicious coffee to my office this morning.

So, I saw a picture of my niece Riley holding a plant at orientation yesterday, and thought at first that she got a plant at school. I was worried though, because my sister is not good at taking care of plants, so I told Emmie when I saw the pic, “Riley is gonna need Aunt Halie to help her out with that, because Aunt Meggie won’t be able to handle that!” But then Meg told me they took the plant to Riley’s teacher actually. But she surprised me today with this picture of a plant in her office that one of her co-workers gave her two years ago, that is healthy and thriving!

 

So in exchange, I sent her this picture of my office, practically on it’s way to becoming a greenhouse, with all my plants! All my normal office ones, plus the new spider plant I brought from home, and two new little guys I’m rooting in water, to propagate to share with other office friends.

For dinner tonight, I made another new TikTok recipe, and this was sooo good. It’s a one-skillet version of the Mississippi beef with orzo. It was super easy, very quick, and extremely delicious. Although it’s of course not low-carb, I will definitely be adding this one to the usual rotation. So flavorful, and I personally really liked the texture of the beef & orzo mixture. And as typically happens, I’m already looking forward to eating these leftovers for my work lunch for the next couple of days.

I added some steamed broccoli on the side (ate mine super fast before it went cold, before I snapped the picture), and dinner was ready and on the table in a quick 20-ish minutes.

Then before Jeff and I got up from the table, these little sillies ran in telling us we were being attacked by warriors! They were very serious about it, and then Emerson shot me in the finger from about six inches away and that actually hurt! So then I banished them to the bathtub…

We read this same book to Emerson on the night before her first day of kindergarten, and we’ve been saving it these past four years, so we could read it again to Addison on the night before her first day of kindergarten as well! She kind of vascilates between being excited and being nervous, which is to be expected. But we read this book tonight, and talked it up for tomorrow, and prayed about her big first day together.

So excited to have both my girls at the same school again tomorrow, and for this next chapter with both at GES for the next two years!
